3 ways to carefully pour oil into the engine if you don’t have a plastic funnel at hand

To fill the engine with oil, a special funnel is definitely required. But what to do if not every driver carries this item in the trunk of his car.

Heavy paper funnel

This homemade device resembles a seed bag from childhood. Due to the fact that the paper gets wet quickly, the design is disposable, but its resource is more than enough to fill the motor with oil.

The manufacturing technology is extremely simple:

1. Wrap thick cardboard, paper, or folded paper from magazines or newspapers around the brush folded into a fist. At the base of the bag there should be a narrow part, from the side of the hand - a wide one.
2. Secure the ends of the material with tape or electrical tape. For thick paper or cardboard, it is enough to tuck the corners and the bag will not turn back.
3. Trim some of the material on the narrow side. This end must be placed in the hole on the motor.

After using such a disposable funnel soaked in a flammable paper liquid, it is better to dispose of it. Keeping it in a car is not safe from the point of view of fire regulations.

Neck of a plastic bottle

This simple device for pouring liquids is used not only by motorists. To make a funnel, you only need an empty plastic bottle (at least 1,5 liters in volume) and sharp scissors or a knife.

It is necessary to cut the bottom of the bottle just above the midline and unscrew the cork. The funnel is ready and you can use it for its intended purpose: insert it into the tank and fill in fuels and lubricants. After use, such a device is enough to wipe it with an unnecessary rag and put it in the trunk.

Using a screwdriver or motor probe

A non-obvious way to carefully pour oil is to use a screwdriver, dipstick or other even and long stick. To do this, you need to place the screwdriver almost vertically, with a deviation of 10-20 degrees, and pour oil on it with a small stream.

When using this method, you should use the following recommendations:

• do not use fingers as a guide. This is unsafe, especially when combined with a running engine;
• entrust oil filling using this method to a person whose hands do not shake, and he will be able to perform all operations smoothly, without jerks.

All of the above tips are for emergencies only. Of course, filling engine oil with a familiar plastic funnel is much more convenient.
