The latest version of Opel Astra was recognized as the safest compact class sedan. Such a verdict was issued by an independent organization Euro NCAP, which conducts an examination of the safety of cars.
In tests conducted by Euro CAP, Astra scored 34 points. This was made possible thanks to the very good results of frontal and side collisions.
Opel's sister brand Saab, the 9-3 Convertible, also received a 5-star rating in the current series of tests. The new Opel Tigra TwinTop, which received four stars, also performed well.
“We are thrilled to receive this award, which is also a recognition of GM's commitment to safety enhancement systems,” said Karl-Peter Forster, president of General Motors Europe, which includes Opel and Saab.
