Bjorn Nyland tested the Audi Q4 40 e-tron, an electric crossover from Audi built on the MEB platform. In ideal weather, a car with a 77 kWh battery will be able to travel up to 330 kilometers on the highway and almost 490 kilometers when the speed drops to 90 km / h (when driving in the suburbs).

Audi Q4 e-tron 40 (called from the Polish side Audi Q4 e-tron 40 e-tron) is an electric crossover of the last segment. C-SUV rear wheel drive i one engine o power 150 kW (204 hp). The base price for this variant starts at PLN 219.

The car was driven 19 inch wheels and, surprisingly, it already looked good on them - in Volkswagen and Skoda this is not so obvious. With a driver suspended almost the same as the older brothers and sisters in MEB, i.e. 2,26 tons... Having traveled 93 kilometers at 120 km / h, it reached 22,7 kWh / 100 km (227 Wh / km). At 90 km / h it was 15,6 kWh / 100 km (156 Wh / km). These values had to be adjusted to account for the distance measurement error, which Nyland did.

Conclusions? Under the optimistic assumption that the battery capacity is 75 kWh (the manufacturer claims 77 kWh), the real range of the Audi Q4 e-tron 40 will be:

  • 487 kilometers when driving at a speed of 90 km / h and discharging the battery to zero,
  • 341 km when driving at a speed of 90 km / h in the range of 80-> 10 percent
  • 332 kilometers when driving at a speed of 120 km / h and discharging the battery to zero,
  • 232 kilometers at a speed of 120 km / h in the range of 80-> 10 percent.

So effective: When traveling to the sea or mountains, the first charging stop should be planned at a distance of no more than 300 kilometers from home.... The car will start asking for charging after driving about 260-270 kilometers, but if we drive another 20-30 kilometers, charging will start with more power, if only the charger allows it.

The second stop must be made after another 230 kilometers.... So, if there are 510 kilometers left, we only need one stop to recharge en route. In winter, both of these values should be multiplied by about 0,7-0,8.

Cruise control turned out to be an interesting factwhich had almost the same problem as Volkswagen ID.3 with earlier firmware versions. Well, the tactile buttons in Volkswagen practically did not allow increasing the cruise control speed by +1 km / h (110 km / h -> 111 km / h -> 112 km / h, etc.). Usually, with the second click of the mouse, they went to the next ten (110 km / h -> 111 km / h -> 120 km / h). In Audi it is even worse: the lever jumps by only tens, so if we want to set, for example, 115 km / h, we have to pick up this speed and then turn on the cruise control.
