BMW iX xDrive50, Nyland review. Silence, like in a church. Plus the ability to change the transparency of the roof

Bjorn Nyland tested the BMW iX in the xDrive50 version with a 105,2 kWh battery and all-wheel drive. A car with this configuration has a power output of 385 kW (523 hp) and costs in Poland from PLN 455. The first thing Nyland noticed was the extremely effective cabin soundproofing.

You can even hear this silence on the recording. Noises from the outside reach the camera microphone, but it is difficult for the ear to distinguish them due to the sound of tires rolling on the asphalt and the noise of the air from the body. At Nyland's speeds, the wheels were probably responsible for the main component. Despite the absence of glued windows in the windows, the silence in the cabin remained up to a maximum speed of 200 km / h.

Like BMW i3 in the BMW iX, recuperation is possible even when the battery is [almost] fully charged. From a user's point of view, this is a good approach, don't be surprised by the message "Restore is not possible due to battery level". As editors, we note that Kia (in EV6) and Volvo (in XC40 Recharge Twin) recently came to a similar conclusion - keep it up!

At around 10:34 am, you can see how the gestures work in the video: the car turns up the volume of the radio that was previously turned off when Nyland's hand moves. The Norwegian is quite surprised by this, and, probably, he will be reminded later that the BMW iX allows you to control some of the system's functions without touching the screen:

BMW iX is an analogue of Tesla Model X and Audi e-tron.... Nyland praised the car for its spacious interior, small turning radius for the size of the car and too much power available under the right foot. In the latter, he was surprised by the delay between pressing the accelerator pedal and jumping forward the iX.

He did not like the work of navigation, which at certain distances began to slow down and draw the road with a delay. But I must say that this probably applies to all cars on the market, and most often the systems work even more slowly. Compared to the traditional interior of the BMW i4, the cab of the BMW iX is more avant-garde and atypical... According to Nyland, it can go even a little further than the BMW i3.

The semi-autonomous driving system (ADM) handled the road with partially invisible lanes. An active sound car was like a spaceship, a large (but quiet) hovercraft, or an all-terrain vehicle on tires with a distinctive block tread. Perhaps the most intriguing novelty appeared in the second film (8:50) - the car allows. changing the transparency of the glass roof... The driver and passengers can admire the height over their heads or look at each other's reflections.

The energy consumption after driving on provincial roads and tests on the highway (maximum) was 33,7 kWh / 100 kmwhich means quite a lot. However, it is difficult to estimate this value, because we do not know what distances Nyland covered on roads of different categories. It remains to wait for new tests.
