I have been driving my Volkswagen Passat for several years now, and I have to travel on bad roads as well. I discovered "Tsinkar" two years ago, and I can't say anything bad about it. I buy this rust converter only in bottles, so I use a brush: it can be used to better treat the surface prepared for priming and painting. The fact is that the spray, if applied from a distance of more than 250 mm, leaves untreated areas on the metal, and a closer location of the can leads to spraying of the product, and to increased consumption.
It is also important for colleagues to know that the Tsinkar tool is produced by several companies. The composition that has a pink color is much more effective than a similar one.

I have already changed several names of rust converters, but for domestic cars (GAZ, Zhiguli of old releases), Tsinkar fits very well, the main thing is to thoroughly rinse the surface with an aqueous solution of soda ash after processing. The drug contains water-soluble salts of manganese and zinc. The former harden the surface, the latter effectively remove rust.
We tried this tool on foreign cars - the effect is less noticeable. Perhaps it's all about the steel grades from which the body parts are made. There, in most cases, thin-sheet steel alloyed with aluminum is used. Manganese works worse against it.

A positive feature of Tsinkar is that this product does not contain phosphoric acid, since it destroys areas of the paintwork that is not cleaned. Therefore, this rust converter can be safely used for local cleaning of the body surface. Double processing is desirable, and in strict accordance with the instructions. They say that fakes come across in the car markets, which are not pinkish, but orange, and are sold not in plastic containers, but in glass bottles. I didn’t have to meet myself, but caution would not hurt.
In fairness, it should be noted that in the mass of such messages there are other reviews on "Tsinkar" from rust. Somewhere they echo the last of the above.

I had to urgently remove the rust and protect part of the body surface of my Lada VAZ-2107. Acquired in the auto chemical kiosk "Tsinkar" in the packaging of a can. During processing, it turned out that when processing a small center of corrosion, a violent reaction begins, as a result of which the rust seems to be neutralized. However, after a short time, the activity of rusting processes increased sharply, new areas appeared. Only later, after consultations with the masters at the service station, it turned out that after processing and drying, the “Tsinkar” had to be washed off, and not with hot water, but with a soda solution. There was no mention of this in the manual...
Thus, it follows from the reviews that you need to buy "Tsinkar" with detailed instructions for its use, which indicates not only the sequence of applying the drug to the surface of the metal being cleaned, but also the procedure for removing the remnants of the product.
