Dacia Logan Pickup 1.6 Ambiance

Just why? When you get in this car and start the engine, after all the turbodiesels, no matter how modern they are, the sound of this engine is like balm to the ears, and it is not supported by eternal sensory vibrations - even modern turbodiesels.

And so it stays all the time while driving, well, at least within the speed limits and at moderate engine speeds. At higher engine speeds, the car gets louder than we're used to at gas stations, and it's true that this pickup doesn't have the thermal insulation that other passenger cars do.

In this pickup, you will also have to get used to other sounds that you will never hear in a passenger car, the most noticeable of which is the sound of the rear wheels rolling and the sound of pebbles (also from the rear wheels) hitting the track. The back is nothing more than sheet metal.

But this also applies to turbodiesels, so let's go back to the gasoline engine. This one is clearly taken from Logan's personal and therefore just as alive. In fifth gear at idle, it spins at over 5.000 rpm, at which point the speedometer is well over 160.

The rest of the car accelerates to 170 kilometers per hour, as shown by the speedometer when empty, slightly restless, but in fully controllable zone, and in lower gears it spins up to 6.800 rpm when electronics grossly interfere with operation. Well, in fourth gear, the engine spins harder, and in the first three gears, which are pretty short, it's pretty easy.

Once again, this kind of emphasizes that this is a van built from a personal car, which means that we can expect that kind of comfort to some extent. They will impress with the speed of heating the interior (again: a gasoline engine!), Exciting reaction to the accelerator pedal (old school, no manipulation of signal transmission) and the feeling of contact of the tire with the road (old school again) although the tires are high and nothing special at all.

A little less pleasant, but a plastic steering wheel is expected in the van, the buttons are large, the shapes are simple, there is no outside temperature sensor, and on the second of four levels the fan becomes loud enough.

Or is the engine too quiet? At the same time, its consumption does not so much exceed that of a turbodiesel, which would be the key reason for buying the latter. As such, this pickup truck lobbies well for the choice of a gasoline engine. Fortunately, you can (at least with this Dacia) choose.

evaluation

  • Dacia has created a whole new class in our market with a line of light commercial vehicles, where it still remains the only one. A petrol-powered pickup is a good choice and technically has the same value as the turbodiesel version. They decide only personal wishes and requirements.
