Flashing light system on big brakes

BMW took advantage of its Motorrad Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to reveal the evolution of its range for 2016. Apart from some color changes, the manufacturer also announced the addition of a reinforced ABS system to all K1600s. ABS Pro, which is also linked to a dynamic brake light.

After CSD, DVT and other DTCs, DBL makes it even more difficult to understand the characteristics of the machine. Don't worry, the lair is enlightening you.

Developed as part of the 360 ° Safety Strategy, this lighting system aims to improve the rider's visibility during braking. Thanks to DBL, the taillight now has several levels of intensity depending on the braking, which allows other road users to see better the braking of the motorcycle.

When the motorcycle decelerates with strong braking at more than 50 km / h, the taillight flashes at 5 Hz.

There is also a second flashing level that is activated when the motorcycle arrives at a speed below 14 km / h, close to a stop. Hazard lights are activated to signal an emergency to vehicles behind it. The hazard lights then turn off when the motorcycle accelerates again and exceeds 20 km / h.

Available with ABS Pro as standard on the K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTK and K 1600 GTL Exclusive, Dynamic Brake Light will also be available as an option on the S 1000 XR, R 1200 GS and Adventure from September.
