DSTC - Dynamic Stability and Traction Control

A Volvo system that combines traction control with skid corrector (here Volvo very correctly defines it as an anti-skid system). When the DSTC detects uneven wheel speeds, it intervenes, affecting not only the engine but also the braking system.

As soon as the vehicle starts to pull off the road, the DSTC automatically differentiates the braking force on the individual wheels, thereby counteracting potential skidding and returning the vehicle to the correct course.

The principle is as simple as the complex technology behind it. To detect an impending skid early enough, DSTC sensors must work diligently, that is, measure the steering wheel offset, yaw rate in relation to steering wheel offset, and centrifugal force. All these measurements and subsequent adjustments are performed in a fraction of a second and unnoticed.
