Derbi Senda SM 50 - motorcycle characteristics

It is also worth telling a little more about the bike itself. Produced from 1995 to 2019. Its design is identical to the Gilera SMT 50 two-wheeled bicycle. The designers chose the front suspension in the form of a 36 mm hydraulic fork, and equipped the rear with a monoshock.

The most striking are the Derbi Senda 50 models, such as the Xtreme Supermotard in black, the twin headlight fairing and the stylish instrument panel. In turn, for standard use in the city, the two-wheeled motorcycle Derbi Senda 125 R with a little more wear resistance will be the best choice.

Driving is very comfortable thanks to the 6-speed gearbox. In turn, the power is regulated by a multi-disk switch. The Derbi is also equipped with a 100/80-17 front tire and a 130/70-17 rear tire.

Braking was provided by a disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. For the SM 50 X-Race, Derbi equipped the bike with a 7-litre fuel tank. The car weighed 97 kilograms, and the wheelbase was 1355 mm.

Variations of the motorcycle Derbi SM50 - a detailed description

Various versions of the Derbi motorcycle are available on the market, including those with the D50B0 engine. The Senda 50 is available in the Supermoto, a limited edition DRD model that comes with gold-anodized Marzocchi forks, as well as the spoked X-Treme 50R with MX mudguards and spongy off-road tires.

Apart from these differences, they have a lot in common. These certainly include the identical base alloy beam frame and longitudinal swingarm. Despite the fact that the suspension and wheels are not the same, driving a 50cc two-wheeler is very comfortable anyway.

Motorcycle models after the acquisition of the Derbi brand by Piaggio - is there a difference?

The Derbi brand was acquired by the Piaggio group in 2001. Motorcycle models after this change are of much better workmanship. These include stronger suspension and brakes on the Derbi Senda 50, as well as styling enhancements such as the chromed exhaust on the DRD Racing SM.

It is worth looking for a unit manufactured after 2001. Derbi SM 50 motorcycles, especially with the D50B0 engine, are great as a first motorcycle. They have an eye-pleasing design, are inexpensive to operate and develop an optimal speed of up to 50 km/h, which is enough for safe movement around the city.
