Toyota Verso engines
This car is a five-door minivan with five or seven seats. The Verso is the predecessor of the Carolla Verso, which was produced between January 1997 and March 2009. Unlike the old model, the new Verso was supplied to the Russian market with a 1.6-liter power unit, and you could choose a mechanic or a CVT as a transmission. The luggage compartment of the seven-seat model is 155 liters, and when the third row seats are folded down, this space will increase to 440 liters.
Packages
Official Toyota dealers in the Russian Federation sell four Verso trim levels: Comfort, Comfort+, Elegance and Prestige. In the basic configuration there are headlight washers, LED lamps in the taillights, side mirrors with electric heating, drive and direction indicators, a steering column adjustable in reach and height, heated front seats, a remote key, power windows, air conditioning and an audio system with CD- player.
The average Comfort + package boasts the following options: a Bluetooth system, an extended set of security systems, a cooled glove box and front fog lights. Cars from the Elegance line are equipped with roof rails, climate control, an improved audio system with more speakers and alloy wheels. The maximum configuration Prestig has the following package of additional equipment: self-dimming rear-view mirror, rain sensor.
In mid-2012, Toyota began to supply the market with an updated version of the Verso minivan. It is distinguished by the presence of a new front bumper, grille and headlights with LED lamps. Also, the top equipment began to be equipped with a panoramic roof.
Technical equipment
In front of the Verso minivans, MacPherson-type independent suspension was installed, using an anti-roll bar. The rear suspension is half dependent, it has a torsion bar. Installation of disc brakes is made on the front and rear axles.
It is worth noting that the brake discs of the front wheels are equipped with ventilated holes for improved cooling. The tires that come standard with the car are 205/60 R16. In richer trim levels, such as Elegance and Prestige, low-profile tires 215/55 R17 are installed, thereby improving vehicle stability on the road surface.
All cars are equipped with a rack-and-pinion steering rack with an electric booster. Also an important role, for a balanced and confident control of the vehicle, is played by the size of the wheelbase, which is 2780 mm. The minimum turning radius is 5,4 meters.
Security
According to the designers and the results of various tests, we can safely say that the Toyota Verso has a very high safety record. The basic equipment boasts the installation of active head restraints for all seats and a set of airbags, among which there is even a knee airbag for the driver.
Also in the security system, the presence of the following components can be distinguished: ISOFIX anchorages, seat belt tensioners, anti-lock braking system (ABS), EBD brake force distribution system, brake assist system (BAS), HAC hill start assist system. The Comfort + package is additionally equipped with electronic stability control (ESP), and the Japanese automobile concern installed an intelligent parking assistance system in the top configuration.

Engines
This family minivan was equipped with two internal combustion engines, paired with either a manual gearbox or a CVT transmission. A good and well-balanced range of units allows you to satisfy a large number of needs of customers around the world.
- The basic version of the Toyota Verso is equipped with an in-line four-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a volume of 1598 cc. Despite the fact that the displacement is quite small, this motor is capable of developing a power of 132 hp. at 6400 rpm, as well as a torque of 160 Nm at 4400 rpm. This modification of the car can accelerate to 100 km / h in 11,7 seconds, and the maximum speed is 185 km / h. Fuel consumption Toyota Verso in the city does not exceed 8,5 liters per 100 kilometers. Outside the city, the car shows very economical performance - only 5,6 liters per 100 km.
- More expensive modifications of the car include a 1,8-liter power plant, which also has 4 cylinders located side by side. The increased displacement allowed the car to reach 100 km / h in just 10,4 seconds, and the maximum speed increased by 5 km, compared with a weaker engine, and now amounted to 190 km / h. The power indicator is 147 hp. at 6400 rpm, and the torque is 180 Nm at 4000 rpm. The increased power and improved acceleration dynamics of the vehicle did not greatly affect the economic performance. In the city, a minivan consumes about 8,9 liters per 100 km, and on the highway this figure is 5,9 liters per 100 km.
