Vehicle operation. What can I do to prevent windows from freezing? Washing car windows in the morning to remove ice from them is a tedious and time-consuming task, and you can also scratch the glass surface. However, there are ways to prevent ice from building up on windows.

To get rid of ice from car windows, most drivers use an ice scraper. Sometimes there is simply no other way out when the glass surface is covered with a thick layer of ice.

Some people use liquid defrosters in spray or spray form. In this way, we will avoid scratches that may appear after using the scraper. However, the use of a de-icer can be problematic, for example, in strong winds. Moreover, in order for the substance to work, it takes several minutes. And if it's cold outside, it may happen that the windshield defroster ... also freezes.

However, there are ways to prevent ice build-up on windows altogether. The easiest way is to close the windows at night with a sheet, a rug (like a sun visor), or even plain cardboard. Unfortunately, this solution is only effective for the windshield of a car. It is inclined, which makes it easier to position and mount the cover or mat (eg with wipers). Even less, removing the ice cream from the windshield is the biggest challenge, so worth a try.

Another solution is to leave the car under a carport overnight. Experts say that such a solution prevents windows from freezing even in severe frosts. In addition, if it snows, we have the problem of removing snow from the car. But the possibility of parking a car under a canopy is available to few drivers.

You can also ventilate the interior well before leaving the car for the night. The idea is to remove warm air from the cabin, which also warms the windows where the falling snow melts. When frost sets in, wet glass freezes. Ventilating the passenger compartment before a night stop also has the advantage of limiting window evaporation from the inside.

It should be remembered that, in accordance with the Rules of the Road (Article 66 (1) (1) and (5)), each vehicle used in road traffic must be equipped and maintained in such a way that its use does not endanger safety. passengers or other road users, he violated the rules of the road and did not harm anyone. This also includes snow removal and car de-icing. In a situation where the police stop a vehicle without snow, the driver is subject to a fine of PLN 20 to 500 and six demerit points.
