Audi's flagship electric will be ready by 2024

The German manufacturer Audi has begun the development of a new luxury electric model, which should bring the company to the first ranking in this segment. According to the British publication Autocar, the electric car will be called the A9 E-tron and will appear on the market in 2024.

The future model is described as a “high-performance electric model,” which is a continuation of the Aicon concept introduced in 2017 (Frankfurt). She will compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Jaguar XJ, the release of which is also yet to come. E-tron will be equipped with a new type of electric drive with an autonomous driving system, as well as a 5G module with the ability to remotely update.

According to information, the future electric flagship of the brand is still being developed. This task is handled by a newly created internal working group called Artemis. It is expected that this will be a luxury sedan or liftback, which in appearance will resemble the Audi A7, but the interior will be similar to the Audi A8.

The idea of the company from Ingolstadt is to put the A9 E-tron at the top of the line of 75 electric vehicles and 60 interchangeable hybrids that the Volkswagen Group plans to offer to the world market by 2029. They will be available under the brands Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen, as part of a large-scale electrification plan in which the group will invest 60 billion euros.

Of this amount, 12 billion euros will be invested in new Audi models - 20 electric vehicles and 10 hybrids. The development of some of them is entrusted to the Artemis group, which was created by order of the new CEO of the company, Markus Duisman. It aims to restore Audi's reputation as a leader in the technical development of the VW Group. Artemis is composed of engineers and programmers whose task is to modernize and create innovative systems for electric vehicles.
