Electricity on the body of the car

Electricity on the body of the car The accumulation of electrical charges on the car body is difficult to correct. The output is an antistatic strip.

Most vehicle users have encountered the phenomenon of electrification of the car body, and therefore unpleasant "digging" when touching the door or other parts of the body.

This accumulation of electrical charge is difficult to deal with. The only solution is to use anti-static strips that drain current to ground. There are three sources of charge storage in a car.

“The accumulation of energy on the car body is influenced by external conditions,” says Piotr Ponikovski, licensed PZMot appraiser, owner of Set Serwis car service. – While driving, the car naturally rubs against electrical particles in the air. For example, near power plants or high-voltage cables, an increased electromagnetic field occurs. In such conditions, the load is easier to settle on the body. Similarly, after a thunderstorm, when the air is ionized. Another cause of electrification is the conditions inside the car, when an electromagnetic field is created around all the wires and components through which the current passes. The fields of all devices and cables are summed up, which can lead to the phenomenon of electrification of the surface of the car.

The driver, or rather his clothes, can also be a source of accumulation of electric charges. A large number of car seat covers are made of synthetic materials; friction between the material of the driver's clothing and the upholstery of the seats generates electrical charges.

– The reason for the more frequent electrification of the car body may be changes in tire production components, adds Piotr Ponikovski. – Currently, more synthetic materials are used, less graphite, for example, which conducts electricity well. Therefore, electrical charges, not being grounded, accumulate on the car body. For this reason, you should also use anti-static strips, which should solve the problem.
