European Mazda CX-5 has undergone a minor overhaul

The compact Mazda CX-5 has been upgraded for the 2020 model year with small but important improvements. Externally, the model has changed only in small details. The only innovation in appearance is the markings. The logos were redrawn, the CX-5 and Skyactiv lettering are made in different fonts.

Inside, the diagonal of the central display has been increased from 7 to 8 inches. Under the hood are five new products. Firstly, the basic four-cylinder Skyactiv-G 2.0 gasoline engine (165 hp, 213 Nm in combination with a manual gearbox) can now deactivate half of the cylinders at low load to reduce fuel consumption. Secondly, all versions with two pedals are already equipped with shift paddles for manual gear shifting.

Thirdly, the fight against noise and vibration continues. A film has been added to the six-layer ceiling covering, which absorbs reflected low-frequency vibration from the road (-10%). Meanwhile, an additional rubber shock absorber in the steering system of gasoline cars dampens low-frequency vibrations in the range from 25 to 100 Hz. Fourth, the Mazda CX-5 with dual transmission now offers an off-road version that distributes torque between the wheels when driving on the road. Fifthly, Advanced SCBS now detects pedestrians in the dark at speeds up to 80 km / h.

The extended touch screen for the Mazda Connect media center has a new feature: it informs the driver about cylinder deactivation. In addition, the interior has an ambient LED backlight. Upholstery in faux leather seats with textile half.
