Fiat Ulysse 2.2 16V JTD Emotion

The Phedra, which has finally come to our market, wants to be a more comfortable and prestigious version of this limousine van, which is also confirmed by its price. Be that as it may, Ulysse is not fundamentally different, and finally, it must be admitted that Fiat also chose by far the most appropriate name. With the feeling it gives inside, it is truly dedicated to the exploits of Ulysses (read the Odyssey).

With the cars we have tested, we can rarely go on a long journey. The day-to-day responsibilities at work simply don't allow us to do it. But if any of the cars are worth tackling, the Ulysse is definitely one of them. The generous exterior dimensions, the flexible and comfortable interior space, the rich equipment and the fatigue-free position behind the steering wheel mean that driving with it does not cause undue effort.

Folding, disassembling and removing the seats takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's only a matter of minutes. The only drawback is their physical removal, because due to the built-in safety (airbags, seat belts ...) they are not the easiest.

It is true that you will not use the seven seats a lot in Ulysse. Despite the significant external dimensions, passengers in the third row were not provided with as much space as passengers in the second, and the volume of the luggage compartment was further reduced by seven places inside. Thus, we can conclude that usually you will not remove more than one seat from the car. Although there are seven of them in this Ulysses.

Ulysse also proves with some other details that the car is designed primarily for the comfortable ride of five passengers with a lot of luggage and only seven when needed. The most useful boxes can be found mainly in front of the driver and front passenger, where there are even so many of them that it is worth remembering where you put this or that little thing, otherwise it will not be easy for you. In the second row, there will be no special problems with this.

There are less convenient places to put various small items, so there are many vents and switches to regulate temperature and airflow. For example, you won't find the last one in the third row, which is further proof that the car is designed primarily for five passengers. Their well-being was also taken care of in the Ulysse test by carefully selected color combinations of fabrics, plastics and decorative accessories with an aluminum sheen.

The Emotion hardware package is extremely rich as almost nothing is missing. There is not even a cruise control, a steering wheel to control the radio tape recorder and power windows and mirrors. You also get a phone, a navigation device and an emergency call in case of an accident, although you can't use the last two with us just yet.

And when you find out, you will probably quite rightly ask yourself if it makes sense to deduct a good 7.600.000 tolars for such a equipped Ulysse. The concern is appropriate, although it is true that the 2-liter turbodiesel engine, along with a five-speed manual transmission, is by far the best choice for this car. The sufficiently powerful unit does its job sovereignly, even when the Ulysse is fully loaded, and at the same time, its fuel consumption never exceeds 2 liters per hundred kilometers.

Obviously, Avto Triglav is also aware of these benefits, which is why they are now offering customers the Ulysse 2.2 16V JTD Dynamic. A little more modestly equipped, which means a much more affordable car. The fact is that more than Ulysses's business needs, it is intended primarily for family odyssey. And with this set of equipment, he might be able to do it.
