Dirty Tesla, a man known in the community for sharing useful information about Tesla and Autopilot, visited a friend to see a Ford Mustang Mach-E. He wanted to buy a Tesla Model Y, but an electric Ford—thanks to subsidies—might be a better (cheaper) buy. Here is his car presentation.

The model in question is the Ford Mustang Mach-E ER AWD, an all-wheel drive variant with a larger 88 (98,8) kWh battery. The car has a power of 258 kW and a torque of 580 Nm. It should be charged with a maximum power of 150 kW.

It started with the appearance. Dirty Tesla found him (smiles) "delicious", he also said that people who see a car in the parking lot drive up and ask for it. Indeed, the paint color alone makes the Mach-E stand out from the overall gray winter. But that's not all: the car's design also makes it attractive.

The driver of the Mustang Mach-E began with an element that caught the attention of many onlookers at its premiere: door handles, or lack of them. Small buttons are hidden on the front and rear doors that unlock and open the doors. In front, they are retracted by a small handle, in the back - just beyond the edge of the door. In this version, the trunk lid opens electrically, in the cabin you can see that the trunk is quite shallow (the rear trunk volume of the Mustang Mach-E is 402 liters).

Power consumption and range

On the screen of the car, we see that in 23,5 minutes it covered 12,8 miles / 20,6 km, which implies access on a normal road, not necessarily in the city - an average of 52,5 km / h. The temperature was 6,1 degrees Celsius. the average consumption was 2,1 ml / kWh. 3,38 km / kWh, i.e. 29,6 kWh / 100 km... Considering the outside temperature and the fact that the car could have been parked in the driveway so it needed to warm up first, this data correlates well with the EPA results:

If the energy consumption displayed on the screen continues, the Ford Mustang Mach-E ER AWD range in winter and during this trip there should be a maximum of 297 kilometers.

Driving experience

The driver of the car, although he was driving the Model 3, was glad that, in addition to the main display, he also had counters behind the wheel. The big screen was too far away for him. During overclocking, there was a slight surprise: Mach-E compared to Tesla Model 3 LR was stronger, stronger than Tesla, but the start seemed belated, and the acceleration was "artificial". The car was driven in sport mode (Unbridled).

Co-Pilot 360 is a semi-autonomous driving system (level 2).who handled a short drive through the built-up area. YouTuber behind the wheel of a Ford, that today the car checks for a hand on the steering wheel, in the future he must look at the driver and his face, and with the roads mapped, he must let the car not touch the steering wheel.

Navigation draws the car's mileage as a classic irregular cloud. Surprisingly, loading times up to 50-60 percent turned out to be long, at least 2 hours. Perhaps the card decided it should touch all available charging points, because even at 50kW, the car has to refuel 50 percent in about 1 hour.

The application resembled the Ford interface, it is designed in a classic style, so to speak. Some screens at the top reported a "504 - Gateway Timeout" error.

Summary? Dirty Tesla did not record anything, but pinned his wife's comment under the film:

I think I would still prefer the Model Y, but would have to see the Mustang Mach-E in person. (...)

Other commentators noted the artificial acceleration, slow and clunky interface, lack of Sentry Mode and Supercharger, although they appreciated the appearance of the Mustang Mach-E and its doors. The comments indicated that they would prefer Tesla, but you have to remember that Dirty Tesla makes films mostly about his Tesla, so his audience is fans or owners of cars from the Californian manufacturer.
