Drift Masters Grand Prix. Drifters introduced themselves on the shore

Last weekend, the 9th and 10th stages of the Drift Masters Grand Prix took place in Gdansk. For 3 days, the players drove sideways in the area of ​​the Energa stadium.

It all started with a Friday workout. The drivers had at their disposal a technical route through the exhibition halls of AmberExpo.

22 riders took part in the competition. Among others, Piotr Wenchek, Paweł Trela, Grzegorz Hyupki, Marcin Mošpinek, Paweł Borkowski and the driver of the only station wagon on the field, Michal Szefer.

Saturday morning greeted the drifters with rain. Luckily, the rain stopped quickly and the track dried up in a matter of minutes. Thanks to this, drifters passed all qualifying races on dry surfaces. This part of Saturday's competition fell to the lot of Jakub Przygonski. The second was Grzegorz Hyupki, and the third was James Dean. The Top 16 also included three local players: Kuba Jakubowski, Pavel Grosh and Piotr Kozlowski, known from other Drift Masters events.

In Saturday's Top 8 we watched, among other things, all Budmat Auto Drift Team drivers, Paweł Borkowski or Grzegorz Hyupki. Competitors struggled to enter the fight for prizes. At this stage, David Karkosik and Petr Venchek met - the Landryna pilot had to recognize the superiority of the plozz, who continued to fight for first place. Grzegorz Hipki defeated Pavel Borkowski and James Dean won the fight with Pawel Trela.

The top 4 decided who would fight for first place and who for third. After these fights, fans learned that Deane vs. Więcek, and in the final B Hypki vs. Przygonski. In the struggle for the lowest step of the podium, the Balbina, a competitor of the Drift Warriors, failed. The cardan shaft broke, which made it impossible for the rider to continue. In the grand final of the 9th round, we watched a fierce duel between representatives of the Budmat Auto Drift Team. This match was won by James Dean, who stood on the podium next to Piotr Wenchek and Jakub Przygonski.

On Sunday, the riders prepared for qualifying from dawn until the 10th round of the DMGP. The conditions on the route were the same as on Saturday - dry surface and sunny atmosphere. The first place in the Qual was taken by James Dean, the second by David Karkosik, and the third by Pavel Borkowski. The drifters from the podiums of the Sunday qualifying races were in high spirits from the very first run and started in the Top 16 with no small appetite for victory.

Sunday races in pairs were full of breakdowns. Due to problems with the car, Jerzy Tecław did not start in the competition, Paweł Korpulinski's car broke down during the impulse for the first run in pairs, Paweł Grosz had a clutch burn during the duel with Paweł Trela, and Grzegorz Hyupka's car had a tire puncture. damaged, he did not have time to replace the prescribed two minutes.

This weekend, the top eight kicked off with another duel of Budmat Auto Drift Team pilots. This time Petr Venchek faced James Dean, who won the fight and continued to fight for a place on the podium. Pawel Trela ​​defeated Maciej Jarkevich, David Karkosik moved on after the fight with Jakub Przygonski, who hit the boards during this duel, and Pavel Borkowski defeated Kuba Jakubowski. After the Top 8, Pavel Borkowski and Pavel Trela ​​advanced to the A final, and in the B final, the fans watched James Dean and David Karkosik. The final races were very intense - full of attacks and millimeter runs. The first place in the 4th round of the DMGP was taken by Pavel Trela, the second by Pavel Borkowski, and the third by James Dean.

The grand finale of the Drift Masters Grand Prix 2016 season is ahead. Drifts will come to Plock to the Wisla Plock football stadium, where they will again fight for victories on a specially filled asphalt track.
