How to use combination pliers?
Pliers are incredibly versatile tools, yet they are very easy to operate.
Step 1 - Open your jawsTake the pliers by the handles and open them (some pliers are spring loaded and open automatically). Keep them in a comfortable position - if they have thumb rests, they should keep your fingers away from your jaws.
Step 2 - Position the PliersTo grip, place the flat parts of the jaws in the best possible position on either side of the object to be gripped. When cutting, make sure the wire or whatever needs to be cut is between the blades as close to the pivot point as possible, as this is where the most force is achieved.
Step 3 - Close your jawsClose the handles with your hand. The jaws will come together. The material will either be cut or captured, depending on where it is located in the jaws. When gripping, keep the handles together and manipulate the material in any way you like. |
