How to cook food on the road?

Why food and travel are connected?

Trips can often last several or even several hours. Most of this time we spend in one position, sitting in a car or on a train seat. Therefore, our diet must be adapted to this situation. In such conditions, easily digestible meals that do not cause constipation and abdominal pain are best suited. Often the provisions that we eat on a trip should replace several homemade meals. For this reason, food prepared for the journey must be nutritious and provide access to the most important nutrients so that during the expedition there is no lack felt by the body. Stomach pain, heartburn, nausea or flatulence can turn even the most comfortable form of transport into a real torment.

Be careful not to hurt yourself when fighting boredom!

Let's not hide that long hours by train or car can be very boring. A common way to deal with monotony is to have a snack. This habit is not very good for our digestive system, but since it is difficult for us to deny ourselves this little pleasure, let's take care not to hurt ourselves. If we must snack on something, let it be snacks that are low in sugar, fat, or chemical additives. Therefore, chips, sweets or chocolate are out of the question. Taking them in too large amounts seems to be the perfect remedy for stomach pains. Taking care of your health, let's nibble chopped vegetables, nuts and dried fruits, fresh or dried fruits, nuts or muesli. Of course, let's keep common sense and not push ourselves to the limit!

Replace fast food with healthy food!

Stopping for lunch at fast food establishments is a must on many trips. However, this is at least a stupid decision if we still have many hours to go to our destination. Instead of spending money on a hearty meal, it's better to prepare something at home ahead of time. Salads are perfect for travel. They are filling, nutritious, full of nutrients and can be prepared in countless ways. For example, salad with egg, chickpeas and tomatoes can be quite a satisfying lunch, especially on warm days when our need for a typical lunch, heavy meals is less. Of course, if we really want to eat hot, let's stop at a restaurant or a roadside bar. But if you don't want to experience any discomfort behind the wheel, save the hamburger for another occasion.

What else needs to be remembered?

Travel can take place in different conditions. If we are going somewhere in the summer heat, we must take special care of the freshness of the foods we consume. Therefore, if you are traveling by car, do not forget to take a travel refrigerator with you. Do not take food that spoils quickly under the influence of temperature. Protect them from sunlight. Also, we will not pack products that can melt due to too high a temperature (for example, processed cheese, chocolate).

However, what we drink is also important. Since we have to spend several or several hours in a sitting position, let's not drink carbonated drinks that can cause bloating. Still water and tea from a thermos are best. As for coffee, it is better to be careful with it. Some may tire of agitation that cannot be "dispersed". However, a black drink is great as a stimulant, allowing the driver to concentrate more behind the wheel.
