How to sanitize a car

In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, car manufacturers are trying to help their customers in every possible way. The Czech company Skoda has published a list of recommendations for protecting the driver and passengers in the car from this disease.

Recommendations from Skoda

First of all, Skoda recommends, if possible, the driver to drive himself. If he still needs to pick up passengers, he should, whenever possible, check to see if they have signs of the disease (most often these are symptoms of acute respiratory infections). In addition, in a confined space, you should adhere to the mask mode, as in any room.

How to disinfect a car?

What needs to be disinfected in the car is the steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake, door handles and multimedia buttons (if it is a touch screen, then disinfection should be carried out with the ignition off).

Do not forget about the direction indicator switches, wipers and cruise control, as well as armrests, levers for adjusting seats, ashtrays in doors, exterior door handles and trunk.

Use of antiseptic

It is recommended that the interior is treated with a liquid that contains more than 70% alcohol. But when using the substance, caution should be exercised. Some interior elements, including leather goods, may deteriorate. For example, paint in some places may dissolve and stain.

Do not use hydrogen peroxide, although it is an excellent antiseptic. After disinfection, the machine must be ventilated so that the odor does not enter into textiles. In addition, the air conditioning system must be cleaned - periodically remove and disinfect the cabin filter.

Skoda recommends minimizing contact with personnel when refueling at gas stations. This means that the driver can refuel the car himself (on how to do it yourself, described here). It is recommended to fill the tank to the brim.
