How to start a car without a key

How to start a car without a key Most likely, every motorist had at least once in his life to find himself in a delicate situation when, for some reason, he had to try to start the car without an ignition key.

The most common reason is the loss of the key, it often flies off the ring on the keychain, is lost on its own or along with a purse, handbag, and so on.

Another reason is a broken key right in the ignition. And another common reason is that the ignition does not turn on when the key is turned.

As for the car factory in the third case, everyone knows what to do. We must try to start the car from the pusher. Unless, of course, the cause is a dead battery or a malfunction in the starter.

To check, you need to see if there is a spark, and if there is, try to push the car. It is problematic for one to do this, but if you ask for help, you can easily start the car from the pusher.

To do this, first the speed switch is placed in neutral, and after acceleration, the ignition key is turned, the clutch is pressed in, the second speed is turned on and the clutch is released. As a rule, the car starts quickly.

In the absence of an ignition key, there are several ways. It is advisable to have a small flat screwdriver in the car just in case. A screwdriver unscrews that part of the panel that closes access to the ignition switch.

All fasteners connecting the ignition switch and steering are removed. Disengagement unlocks the steering wheel, this is the very first step, unlocking the steering wheel. Then the screws are unscrewed connecting the two parts of the ignition switch - mechanical and electrical.

After these simple procedures, the screwdriver is inserted into the hole that is intended for the ignition key and turned in the same direction in which the key is usually turned. After that, the car should start.

But how to start a car without a key if there is no suitable screwdriver at hand?

Everyone, probably, has seen more than once how dashing hijackers and tough guys instantly start a car by connecting two wires to each other.

In fact, everything is not so simple, and such manipulations can be done by very professional people who know EVERYTHING in car electricians.

You need to know which wires to connect to each other. As a rule, the simplest multitester will serve as the best assistant here, which, like a screwdriver, is recommended to have in every car. But this is in theory, in practice, almost no one usually has it.

But if you still have a multitester, then everything is really simple. Having repeated all the steps described above, starting with removing the casing under the steering column and freeing the wiring going to the ignition switch, you must first find the ground and insulate it.

By the way, perhaps there is a small light bulb nearby, it will also show which wiring is “ground”. If there is no bulb or tester, you can guess by the color of the wire, grounding is usually a black or green wire.

The remaining wires under voltage can be shorted alternately to the ground, but only for the shortest possible time so as not to burn the wiring. If there is a multitester or a light bulb, it will not be difficult to identify all of them simply by connecting through the device in turn to the “ground”.

All live wires must be carefully bundled and made sure that they do not short on the body. The third will be the starter wire. Finding it is easy, but first of all, you need to put the car on the handbrake and neutral.

Alternately, the remaining free wires must be closed to a live group. Which will start the starter. that one is needed.

Then it remains only to connect these wires, and the car will start. After that, disconnect the starter wire from the first two groups and, if possible, insulate. To stop the engine, then it is enough to open the "ground" and "voltage".

As a one-time measure, these methods can be used, but be aware that electrical wiring is quite dangerous to use without insulation.

Due to inexperience or negligence, you can ruin all the wiring. It's best to have a second key tucked away in the car just in case and don't take it to extremes.

All options are acceptable only for those who are confident in their abilities and knowledge. It is advisable to have a duty kit in the car, consisting of a multitester, a small light bulb from a flashlight, electrical tape, a set of candles and a spare belt.
