There is an interesting discussion about the Norwegian group Tesla Owners Club Norway, which is worth reading for fans of the theory that batteries in electric vehicles need to be replaced after 5 years of use. Buyers of the first Tesla Model S 85 can boast of the announced range of vehicles:

The Tesla Model S 85 went on sale in 2012, but was only available on a large scale in 2013. Under the EPA procedure, it offered 426 kilometers - more or less this value was represented by new cars (Nominal in the USA, typical in Europe see link below for more information).

Norwegian Model S 85 buyers claim that their cars promise a range of 352 to 378 kilometers. (typical), which corresponds to loss of 11-18 percent of battery capacity... The worst value reported in the stream is 321 kilometers, or 75 percent of nominal range (reference).

The cars had an average mileage of 120 190 to 17 27 kilometers, that is, 420 to XNUMX XNUMX kilometers per year. There was also a statement from the owner of the Model S who replaced the battery. The car reports a range of XNUMX kilometers, which is almost exactly the same value as in the EPA procedure.

At this rate of discharge, the S 85's batteries will be fully operational for the next 7-13 years. and only after this time should you think about replacing the battery. It should be added that if it turns out that the capacity of the batteries suddenly decreases, buyers can replace them under warranty (8 years, no mileage limitation).
