The carburetor mechanism is considered one of the most important components in the car. At the same time, the owners of the "sevens" constantly have questions related to the adjustment and repair of this device. The most popular type of carburetors for the VAZ 2107 - "Ozone" - allows even inexperienced car owners to fix all malfunctions on their own.
Carburetor "Ozone 2107" - general characteristics and principle of operation
Any carburetor installation, including Ozone, is designed to form a combustible mixture (mixing air and fuel flows) and supply it to the engine combustion chamber. Thus, we can say that it is the carburetor unit that “serves” the car’s engine and allows it to work normally.
Adjusting the amount of fuel supplied and the injection of the finished fuel mixture into the combustion chambers is a very important job, since the functionality of the motor and its service life depend on it.
Ozon carburetor manufacturer
For 30 years, the Dimitrovgrad Auto-Aggregate Plant Joint-Stock Company has been producing Ozone carburetor units designed exclusively for rear-wheel drive VAZ models.
The accompanying documents indicate the resource of "Ozone" (it is always equal to the resource of the engine). However, the warranty period is determined quite rigidly - 18 months of operation or 30 thousand kilometers of the distance traveled (whichever comes first).
DAAZ JSC checks each manufactured carburetor at the stand, which ensures the high quality of its products. In total, "Ozone" has two modifications:
- 2107–1107010 - installed on the VAZ 2107, 21043, 21053 and 21074 models. The modification is already equipped with a microswitch and an economizer from the factory.
- 2107–110701020 - mounted on the VAZ 2121, 21061 and 2106 models (with an engine capacity of 1.5 or 1.6 liters). Benefits of a carburetor for rear-wheel drive VAZ models
I must say that the first "Ozones" were installed on the VAZ 2106 - the "six". However, the peak of the heyday of Ozone carburetors falls precisely on the period of serial production of the VAZ 2107. The DAAZ designers immediately announced that the new installation would become a real bestseller in the domestic car market, and they were not mistaken. The design features of the Ozone carburetors made it possible not only to reduce the cost of the unit, but also to make it convenient to operate and repair.

In terms of its structure, the Ozone 2107 carburetor is considered a rather simple device (when compared with previous DAAZ developments). In general, the installation consists of more than 60 elements, each of which performs its narrow function. The main components of the carburetor are:
- two dosing chambers;
- throttle valve vacuum drive (on later modifications, the drive was replaced with a pneumatic one);
- float chamber;
- econostat in the chamber (a special element that enriches the mixture with air);
- exhaust gas outlet device;
- accelerator pump (its design also includes a sprayer);
- idling unit (it includes a special valve that operates on an electromagnetic field);

The throttle valves of each of the Ozone chambers work as follows: the first chamber opens already from the passenger compartment when the driver presses the gas pedal, and the second - after receiving a signal from the drive about the lack of fuel mixture.
Jets "Ozone" 2107 are accurately marked, and if you do not install the dispenser in its intended place in the carburetor, you can upset the entire operation of the motor.
Fuel jets VAZ 2107 for the first chamber are marked 112, for the second - 150, air jets - 190 and 150, respectively, jets of the accelerator pump - 40 and 40, drive - 150 and 120. Air dispensers for the first chamber - 170, for the second - 70. Idle jets - 50 and 60. The large diameters of the Ozone dispensers guarantee uninterrupted operation of the engine even when using low-quality gasoline or in the winter period of operation.

Engine fuel supply mechanism
As already mentioned, the most important task of any carburetor mechanism is the formation of a combustible mixture. Therefore, the entire functionality of Ozone is built around the operational achievement of this goal:
- Through a special mechanism, gasoline enters the float chamber.
- From it, two chambers are filled with fuel through jets.
- In the emulsion tubes, fuel and air flows are mixed.
- The finished mixture (emulsion) enters the diffusers by spraying.
- Next, the mixture is fed directly into the engine cylinders.
Thus, depending on the mode of operation of the engine (for example, idling or maximum overtaking speed), a fuel mixture of different enrichment and composition will be formed.
The main malfunctions of the Ozone carburetor
Like any mechanism, the VAZ 2107 carburetor sooner or later starts to act up, reduces its productivity and, in the end, may fail altogether. The driver will be able to notice the beginning of a breakdown or malfunction in a timely manner if he carefully monitors the operation of the motor and carburetor. So, the following symptoms are considered to be symptoms of future breakdowns for Ozone:
- sharp pops when pressing the gas pedal due to detonation;
- high engine revs at idle;
- "Floating" engine speed at idle, which indicates the need for idle adjustment;
- a long period of time between pressing the gas and accelerating the car. This is a sign of a malfunction in the drive of the second chamber of the carburetor or accelerator pump (and more often both);

The biggest problem associated with a carburetor is that the engine may simply not start - both cold and fuel. This may be due to the following faults:
- depressurization of valves;

This malfunction is visible, as they say, to the naked eye. Spark plugs flooded with gasoline do not spark, and puddles of fuel can be observed under the crankcase. The reasons lie in the following defects in the operation of the carburetor:
- breakage of the starting device;
- instability of the accelerator pump;
- throttle sticking;
- clogging of the nozzles;
- high fuel level in the float chamber.

No idle
Another typical problem for Ozone 2107 carburetors is the impossibility of the engine idling. This is due to the displacement of the solenoid valve from the workplace or its severe wear.
High idle speed
With this problem, there is a wedging of the axis of the throttle valve of the second chamber. The damper must always be in a strictly defined position, regardless of the mode of operation of the carburetor.

Preparatory stage
In order for the adjustment to be quick and efficient, you will need to spend a little time and carefully consider all the nuances of the work. First you need to prepare a comfortable place for yourself, that is, make sure that nothing and no one will interfere with your work, and there is enough light and air in the room.
The carburetor should only be adjusted when the engine is cold, otherwise injury may result.. It does not hurt to stock up on rags or rags in advance, since some fuel leaks are inevitable during adjustment.
It is important to prepare the necessary tools in advance:
- set of wrenches;
- a cross-blade screwdriver;
- a flat-blade screwdriver;
- round probe;
- school ruler for measuring distances between nodes.
It is also recommended that you familiarize yourself with the information provided in the service book for the car. It is in this document that individual parameters and recommendations for setting up and adjusting the operation of the carburetor are given.
Screw adjustment of quality and quantity
Most Ozone problems can be solved by simply adjusting the quantity and quality screws. This is the name of small devices on the carburetor body that correct the operation of the main components of the device.
The procedure takes a little time and is carried out only on a completely cooled down, but turned on motor:
- Turn the quality screw to the maximum by turning it counterclockwise until it stops.
- Set the quantity screw to an even greater number of revolutions - for example, to 800 rpm, by turning the screw itself counterclockwise.
- Check with the quality screw whether the maximum positions for the screw have really been reached, that is, turn it half a turn back and forth. If the maximum performance was not achieved the first time, then the settings indicated in paragraphs 1 and 2 must be carried out again.
- With the maximum values of the fuel quantity screw set, it is necessary to turn the quality screw back so that the speed drops to about 850–900 rpm.

Float chamber - making adjustments
It is necessary to correct the position of the float in the chamber for the normal functioning of the carburetor in all operating modes. For work, you will need to make sure that the motor is cool and does not pose a danger to humans. After that you need:
- Remove the cap from the carburetor and place it vertically so that the gasoline supply fitting is facing up. In this case, the float itself should hang down, barely touching the needle. If the float is not perpendicular to the axis of the valve, you will need to straighten it with your hands or pliers. Then put the carburetor cover back on.
- Use a ruler to measure from the carburetor cover to the float. The optimal indicator is 6–7 mm. If this is not the case, you will need to bend the float tongue in the right direction.The float should be perpendicular to the valve axis at a distance of 6-7 mm from the carburetor cover
- Raise the Ozone cover again strictly vertically.
- Retract the float as far as possible from the center of the float chamber. The distance between the float and the cover gasket must not exceed 15 mm. If necessary, bend or bend the tongue.
Adjusting the opening of the second chamber
The throttle valve is responsible for the timely opening of the second chamber of the carburetor. Adjusting this node is as simple as possible:
- Tighten the shutter screws.
- Make sure that the device is firmly pressed against the wall of the chamber.
