A giant fire in a garage at the Jerez track (Spain). According to preliminary reports, 18 Energica Ego electric motorcycles, which were to inaugurate Moto E races in May 2019, were burned. Teams wishing to take part in the competition lost everything: two-wheelers, laptops, accessories.

The fire happened at Circuito Permanente de Jerez, it happened at night after the training session that took place on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Of the 18 motorcycles shown on the list,… all of them burned down.

According to preliminary information, the fire broke out in a temporary garage. It is not known yet what caused it. It is known, however, that only the skeleton was left behind.

The races were to use modernized and reinforced variants of the Energica Ego electric motorbikes called EgoGP. It may therefore turn out that the manufacturer will not be able to produce another 18 motorcycles in just a few weeks. And that's not all: in the coming days, the teams were to train at Le Mans, Sachsenring, Red Bull RIng and Misano - all training was now in question.

The inauguration of the season was planned for May 5, it was supposed to take place at the Jerez track in Spain.

According to the official statement, a new race schedule is to be announced soon. However, the inauguration of the season will not take place in Jerez on May 5.

The fire was to start with one of the prototype chargers, which could not be extinguished.
