Kia e-Niro - user experience plus some comparisons with the Nissan Leaf [video]

Rafal, a resident of Norway, reviewed the electric Kia Niro, comparing it to the first and second generation Nissan Leaf. The video does not go into the technical details of the car, but it does give an impression of the e-Niro when used in tough winter conditions.

Recall what we are looking at: this is the Kia e-Niro, a C-SUV crossover – similar in size to a Nissan Leaf or Toyota RAV4 – with a 64 kWh battery (usable capacity) and an actual range of about 380-390 km (455 km WLTP ). The price of a car in Poland is likely to be around PLN 175 [estimation www.elektrowoz.pl].

The information seen in the first picture is very impressive. Despite the snow and low temperatures (-9, later -11 degrees Celsius), the car shows an energy consumption of 19 kWh / 100 km and the remaining range of 226 km. The battery indicator tells you we have 11/18 capacity left, which means With this engine, the e-Niro will cover about 370 kilometers.... Of course, it should be added that Mr. Rafal already drives electric cars, so he is familiar with the art of economical driving.

A little later, when we see another shot from the car's meter, energy consumption increased to 20,6 kWh, the car drove 175,6 km, and the cruising range remained 179 km. Thus, the total real power reserve dropped to about 355 kilometers, but it is worth remembering that the car is turned on and warms up the interior all the time when the driver shares his impressions with us. Battery power decreases, range decreases, but distance does not increase.

The Kia e-Niro in the equipment variant shown in the video can move the seat back when exiting. Such a function is available in many higher class cars, while the competition is shown only in the Jaguar I-Pace, that is, in a car that is 180 PLN more expensive.

The e-Niro's audio system against the Leaf has been described as "much better". The first generation Nissan Electric was considered a disaster, the second generation is better, but the JBL speakers in the e-Niro sound "cooler". The Kia also seems more subdued than the Nissan Leaf. The advantage is the top compartment for glasses and a lot of other compartments in the front, including a deep compartment for the phone, which probably prevents the smartphone from falling out even under strong acceleration.

Here is Mr. Rafal's entry and some other photos of this car model:
