Short test: Toyota Verso 2.0 D-4D Luna
She was black and indestructible, almost like our Patria. It gained miles faster than the super-test Citroën Xsara, Volkswagen Golf, Renault Laguna, Volkswagen Passat Variant, Peugeot 308 or even the Audi A4 Avant (when not in service) while making a very good impression. In short, you gave preference to every mile, and so we passed the keys to each other, like in the good old days the baton of youth.
Then Toyota decided to move to another family. She lost the name Corolla, put on a few inches and lost her appeal. Even the cheap-tuned transparent plastic on the taillights doesn't help to draw attention. She became a gray mouse, and, fortunately, she usability was maintained... There are three rear seats and they are adjustable in the longitudinal direction, and with the backrests folded down we get a very useful trunk, which also stores well-stored tools in the basement.
The only thing that scared us was the flat tire refueling package, which is more of a fashionable fad than a useful novelty for motorists. But Toyota isn't the only problem. Family orientation you may also notice it in the cabin, as additional mirrors are visible above the driver to see what is happening in the rear seats, and your little ones will also be delighted with additional tables that are otherwise tucked away in the front seat backrests.
Turbo diesel engine over the years it has lost its luster, but has become environmentally friendly and economical. At Avto we chased Versa more in the city than in the countryside, so that's the way it was. 8,1 liter fuel consumption is above the lower limit. Engine in six-speed gearbox they are good companions who, together with the driver, accumulate kilometers. In addition to reliability, the driver will also get a pinch of precision in the responsiveness of the chassis, it's just a shame we can't claim that for the steering gear.
Even in interior shape There are no surprises here: only the centrally located dashboard is worth mentioning, which is equally transparent despite being installed on the right. Quite the opposite: regardless of the height setting, the steering wheel never covers the dashboard, which is why we approve of this arrangement.
However, Toyota is very carelessly playing with the nerves of passengers when we talk about Automatic blocking... For added safety, the car is automatically locked while driving, but the devil remains locked even when the driver gets out and wants to help other passengers get out of the car. Even with the engine off and from the inside !!! Savings or stupidity of planners, who would know. But falls under the savings second keywhich doesn't have a remote control, but you'll have to pay extra for a few buttons and a battery. You, you, you, Toyota, it wasn't on the list of optional equipment once.
We started with the Toyota Corolla Verso supertest, but let's end there: it was a good car, it passed hundreds of thousands without any problems. He may not have been as good as the successor on paper, but he grew faster in your heart. And the heart is the essence of sales, because rationality when buying a Toyota, there was never a doubt.

evaluation
Some things get nervous (automatic locking), some are only slightly distracting (shape, saving on another key, typing to fill an empty wheel), and many are impressive (spaciousness, flexibility, family orientation). In short, you prefer it every kilometer, which we have already noticed in the supertests.
