Legendary Cars - TVR Tuscan Speed Six - Auto Sportive

Le TVR has a bad reputation... There are two main reasons: the owners leave them for a walk, and when they don't, they try to kill them in every possible way. For those unfamiliar with it, TVR was a Blackpool-based English car manufacturer founded by Trevor Wilkinson... He has always made sports cars, very British in appearance, light and powerful engines. Not only that, Trevor always wanted them to be “solid and clean,” which means no ABS, traction and stability control, super-responsive steering and light weight.

TUSCAN TVR

La Tuscanin my opinion it is AT TVR... Presents maximum mechanical and stylistic expression of the House English car; Designed by Damien McTaggert, the tapered, "somewhat viper" line expresses anger and sensitivity at every centimeter. These round spotlights, adorned with diamonds inside the body, make it sexy and exotic like some other cars in the world.

It's the same with interiors, where the dashboard looks like a kind of alien sculpture, it's so fluid, twisting and difficult to interpret. But it doesn't matter, because it is beautiful. And fast, very fast.

Her inline six-cylinder 3,6 l, the famous Speed Six produced by 360 CV (400 in latest versions) and was only responsible for promotion 1.100 kg. The frame was tubular made of steel and the body was made of fiberglass. Double triangular suspensions at the front and rear left no doubt about the extreme soul of the car. Oh, I forgot, the transmission was manual and had only 5 gear ratios, but that was enough given the huge torque of the six-cylinder engine.

С specific power of only 3,0 kg per hp, la TVR Tuscan accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4 secondsthose. he touched me 300 km / h, better than the Ferrari 360 Modena. The problem, however, was handling: the Tuscan car demanded attention and caution from even the most experienced drivers. 4,3 meters long, 1,8 meters wide and with a wheelbase of only 2,3 meters, it was too maneuverable in mixed terrain. The steering was quick enough to knock you off the road on the first sneeze, while the torque from the 4,0-liter V-XNUMX was able to overwhelm the rear wheels at any moment. This is not one of those cars that you can safely drive on a rainy day.

This, however, made it exciting, extreme and different from all other sports, a kind of cross between Lotus and muscle car.

La TVR Tuscan it remained in production from 1999 to 2006 at prices ranging from 68.000 to 100.000 to almost XNUMX XNUMX euros. Various modifications to the Tuscan (including the S and R) have resulted in increased displacement and engine power, as well as minor styling updates.

Although TVR carved out a niche market and was an established brand in the supercar world, the company closed in 2006 for lack of profit.
