Lexus UX 300e - first impressions of the prototype [Elbil.no]

The Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association has tested the Lexus UX 300e prototype. The first electrician of the brand seemed decent to them, but did not bring it to his knees. The biggest advantage? Comfortable ride and comfort in the cabin. Defect? Slow charging connection and unparalleled performance.

Electric car Lexus UX 300e according to Norwegian testers

The Lexus UX is longer than the Kia e-Niro (4,5 meters versus 4,38 meters), but has a shorter wheelbase (2,64 meters versus 2,7 meters). Therefore, we classify it as a car of the beginning of the C-SUV segment, claiming nevertheless that in American terminology it is "luxury". belowcompact crossover ".

Electric option UX300e He has battery with a capacity of ~ 49 (54,3) kWh and that alone should tell us that real car mileage will fluctuate in about 250-300 kilometers... The Japanese promise 400 NEDC units (~ 270 km), the testers, in turn, calculated that the energy consumption was 16,2 kWh / 100 km (162 Wh / km), so when the batteries are discharged to zero, the car he must travel about 300 kilometers or slightly violate this distance (source).

Elbil.no complained that the battery indicator distorts reality to the detriment of the car. To us, such an indicator seems extremely archaic - none of the operating systems known to us uses a pointer and a dial to display the amount of energy in the battery. We cannot imagine such a shield in, say, a smartphone (lower right), since every normal person understands the symbolism of the battery icon:

Testing the Lexus UX 300e allowed the car to be praised for its comfort. Limited tire and wind noise penetrated the cabin, and the leather seats were comfortable. It was found that At the moment there is no more equipped model in this class.... The interior was nearly identical to the hybrid version and was suitable for adults in the front and children in the back, although it's worth adding that the 1,8-meter driver could easily fit behind him in the backseat.

The characteristics corresponded to the class of the car, but they did not make much impression: the engine that drives the front wheels is at the top. 150 kW (204 HP) power i 300 Nm of torqueWhat allow acceleration to 100 km / h in 7,5 seconds... The chassis was stiff but tuned for a comfortable ride. The steering wheel was stiff and precise, but no traffic information. The car was nervous at sharp turns.

The battery is discharged ground clearance Lexus UX 300e up to 15 centimeters (manufacturer: 14 cm at maximum load), while loading capacity has grown from the hybrid UX 250h to 367 liters... How is this possible? Well, the battery that powers the hybrid is gone, so the floor could have been lowered to get an extra 47 liters.

The prototype was equipped with Chademo charging connectorwhich made it possible to accelerate to a maximum power of 50 kW. The competitors are better, reaching 65-77 (e-Niro) and even up to 100 kW (Peugeot e-2008, slightly smaller, B-SUV segment). The built-in charger also did not shine: a maximum of 6,6 kW from a single-phase outlet.

The Lexus UX 300e has a number of safety features, but no semi-autonomous driving system was mentioned. The car is compatible with the Lexus Link app, which allows you to read the battery percentage. In front of the driver's eyes is the indicator and counter of the remaining range (photo above).
