The best autopilot for cars? Super cruise in a Cadillac. Tesla in second place

According to a recent Consumer Reports ranking, Super Cruise in Cadillacs is the best automatic driving system available. Tesla's Autopilot came in second, although it performed well in some categories.

Tested on the Cadillac CT6, the Super Cruise offers the best combination of modern technology and safety, with a 4/5 rating, according to Consumer Reports (source). The system, for example, monitors the driver's eyes to make sure they are still looking at the road. Thus, the driver cannot take a nap while driving:

Tesla Autopilot (3/5) received high marks for its ability and ease of activation. On the other hand, it received a disadvantage due to the lack of control and driver involvement, as well as clear information about when it can be used.

The ProPilot on the Nissan Leaf scored a 2 out of 5, and most of its features were poorly rated. The worst marks were for Pilot Assist in Volvo (1/5), where only the monitoring of driver behavior was moderately praised.

Electrek adds (source) that the large green glowing strip on the Cadillac steering wheel can be distracting, though seeing the driver's face means they don't need to put their hands on the wheel regularly. In turn, Tesla's advantage is automatic online updates, thanks to which the software receives new features. We add that Super Cruise only works on well-marked highways, outside of them we will not be able to turn it on.
