Later, the history of the model was continued by subsequent "civilian" generations: "Pagoda" (W 113, 1963-1971), a valuable youthful R 107 (1971-1989), produced for 18 years, and its successor, which became famous for this combination of innovation and timeless design R 129. To this day, the abbreviation "SL" stands for one of the few true icons of the automotive world. The new Mercedes-AMG SL marks another milestone in its long history of development from thoroughbred race car to open-top luxury sports car. The latest generation combines the sportiness of the original SL with the unparalleled luxury and technical sophistication that characterize today's Mercedes models.
