History of the Mitsubishi automobile brand

Contents FounderEmblemHistory of Mitsubishi cars Mitsubishi Motor Corp. - one of the largest Japanese companies in the automotive industry, specializing in the production of cars, trucks. The headquarters is located in Tokyo. The history of the origin of the auto company dates back to the 1870s. Initially, it was one of the branches of a multifunctional corporation that specialized from oil refining and shipbuilding to real estate trading founded by Yataro Iwasaki. "Mitsubishi" originally featured in Yataro Iwasaki's renamed Mitsubishi Mail Steamship Co. and associated its activities with the steamship mail. The automobile industry began in 1917. Then the first light car Model A was released. It was characterized by the fact that it was the first non-hand-built model. And the following year, the first T1 truck was produced. The production of passenger cars during the war did not bring much income, and the company began production of military equipment, such as army trucks, military ships and up to aviation. Since the early 1930s, the company began a rapid development in the auto industry, in the creation of many projects that were new and unusual for the country, for example, the first diesel power unit was created, which was characterized by direct injection of 450 AD. In 1932, the B46 was already created - the first bus of the company, which was significantly large and spacious, with enormous power. The reorganization of branches within the corporation, namely aircraft and shipbuilding, made it possible to create Mitsubishi Heavy Industry, one of the specifics of which was the production of cars with diesel power units. Innovative developments served not only to create special technologies in the future, but also gave rise to many new experimental models of the 30s, among which was the “Father of SUVs” PX33 with all-wheel drive, TD45 - a truck with a diesel power unit. After the defeat in World War II and due to the occupation of Japanese power, the Iwasaki family could not fully manage the company, and then completely lost control. The auto industry was defeated and the development of the company was hindered by the invaders, who had an interest in slowing it down for military purposes. In 1950, Mitsubishi Heavy Industry was divided into three regional enterprises. The economic post-war crisis greatly affected Japan, especially in the manufacturing sector. At that time, fuel was in short supply. Some power was still retained for subsequent production, and Mitsubishi developed the idea of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbeconomical three-wheeled trucks and scooters on any fuel, except gasoline in short supply. The beginning of the 50s was significant not only for the company, but for the country as a whole. Mitsubishi produced the first R1 rear wheel drive bus. A new era of post-war development begins. During the occupation, Mitsubishi broke up into many small independent companies, of which only a few re-merged in the post-war period. The very name of the trademark was restored, which had previously been banned by the occupiers. The beginning of the company's development was focused on the production of trucks and buses, since in the post-war period, the country needed most of all such models. And since 1951, many models of trucks and buses came out, which were soon exported to many countries. For 10 years, the demand for cars has also increased, and since 1960 Mitsubishi has been actively developing in this direction. Mitsubishi 500 - a passenger car with a sedan body belonging to the economy class has generated great demand. The production included compact buses with different types of power units, and a little later light trucks were designed. It was released models of mass demand and sports cars. Mitsubishi racing cars were considered among the best for winning prizes in races. The end of the 1960s was replenished with the release of the legendary Pajero SUV and the company's entry to a new level in the production of a high prestigious class was presented by Colt Galant. And by the beginning of the 70s, she already had huge popularity and had novelty and quality among the huge masses. 1970 saw the merger of all of the company's various operational departments into one huge Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. The company each time made a splash with the release of new sports cars, which constantly won prizes, thanks to the highest technical data and reliability. In addition to the huge achievements in motorsport racing, the company has shown itself in the scientific field, such as the creation of ecological Mitsubishi Clean Air powertrains, as well as the development of silent shaft technology, which was formed in the Astron80 powertrain. In addition to the scientific award, many automakers have licensed this innovation from the corporation. Many new technologies have been developed, in addition to the famous “silent shaft”, a system has also been created that adapts to the habits of the driver Invec, the world's first electronically controlled traction technology. Many revolutionary engine technologies have been created, in particular the development of an environmentally friendly powertrain technology that has made it possible to create such a gasoline-powered powertrain with a fuel injection system. The legendary "Dakar Rally" credits the corporation with the title of a successful leader in production and this is due to numerous race victories. Technological progress flourishes rapidly in the company, making production even more high-quality and special, and the company itself occupies a leading position in the international market in terms of the number of cars produced. Each model is developed with a specific technological approach and the produced range gains merit and popularity due to quality, reliability and progress in technology. The founder Yataro Iwasaki was born in 1835 in the winter in the Japanese city of Aki into a poor family. Belongs to the samurai family, but for good reasons lost this title. At the age of 19 he moved to Tokyo for education. However, after studying for only a year, he was forced to return home because his father received a serious gunshot wound. Iwasaki managed to regain the generic samurai title through acquaintance with the reformer Toyo. Thanks to him, he received a place in the Tosu clan and the opportunity to redeem that tribal status. Soon he took the position of head of one of the branches of the clan. Then he moved to Osaka, the trading center of Japan at that time. Several departments of the already old Tosu clan fell ill, which served as the foundation of the future corporation. In 1870, Iwasaki became president of the organization and called it Mitsubishi. Yataro Iwasaki died at the age of 50 in 1885 in Tokyo. Emblem Throughout history, the Mitsubishi logo has not changed significantly and has the form of three diamonds connected at one point in the center. It is already known that the founder of Iwasaki was from a noble samurai family and that the Tosu clan also belonged to the nobility. The image of the family coat of arms of the Iwasaki clan consisted of elements resembling diamonds, and in the Tosu clan - three leaves. Both types of elements from two genera had compounds in the center. In turn, the modern emblem is three crystals connected in the center, which is an analogue of the elements of two family coats of arms. Three more crystals symbolize the three fundamental principles of the corporation: responsibility, honesty and openness. The history of Mitsubishi cars The history of Mitsubishi cars dates back to 1917, namely with the introduction of the Model A. But soon, due to hostilities, occupations, lack of demand, transfer their production forces to the creation of military trucks and buses, ships and aircraft. In the post-war period in 1960, resuming the production of passenger cars, the Mitsubishi 500 debuted, gaining mass popularity. Having upgraded it in 1962 and already, the Mitsubishi 50 Super Deluxe became the first car in the country to be tested in a wind tunnel. This car also glorified the achievement of great results in auto racing, in which the company took part for the first time. The subcompact four-seater Minika was released in 1963. The Colt 600/800 and Debonair became models from the family car series and saw the world in the period 1963-1965, and since 1970 the famous Colt Galant Gto (F series) has seen the world, created on the basis of the five-time winner of the competition. The 1600 Lancer 1973GSR wins three prizes for the year in auto racing. In 1980, the world's first energy-efficient turbocharged diesel power unit with silent shaft technology was created. 1983 made a splash with the release of the Pajero SUV. High technical dynamic characteristics, special design, spaciousness, reliability and comfort - all this is intertwined in the car. He won triple honors on his first try in the world's toughest Paris-Dakar Rally. 1987 debuted Galant VR4 - nominated as "Car of the Year", equipped with an active suspension with electronic ride control. The company never ceases to amaze with the creation of new technologies, and in 1990 the 3000GT model was launched with a high-performance all-wheel drive suspension and active aerodynamics, and with the title of "Top 10 best", with all-wheel drive and a turbo engine, the Eclipce model was released the same year. Mitsubishi cars never cease to reach first places in races, in particular, these are improved models from the Lancer Evolution series, and 1998 is considered the most successful racing year for the company. The FTO-EV model entered the Guinness Book of Records as the first electric car to drive 2000 kilometers in 24 hours. In 2005, the 4th generation Eclipse is born, characterized by high technology and dynamic design. The first compact off-road vehicle with an eco-friendly engine, the Outlander, debuted in 2005. The Lancer Evolution X, with its unbeatable design and all-wheel-drive super-system, which was once again considered a novelty of the company, saw the world in 2007. 2010 made another breakthrough in the international market, seeing the innovative i-MIEV electric car with advanced technology and is considered the most energy-efficient vehicle in terms of environmental protection and is named the “Greenest”. Also this year, the PX-MIEV debuted, featuring a hybrid power grid connection system. And in 2013, another innovative SUV, Outlander PHEV, starts, which has the technology of charging from the mains, and in 2014 the Miev Evolution III model took first place in difficult hill climbs, thereby proving once again the superiority of Mitsubishi.
