Classification

Naftan engine oils produced in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications are classified into the following groups:

1. Naphthan 2T - used in two-stroke engines of scooters, motorcycles, drive gardening equipment. It is used as an integral part of the fuel mixture.
2. Naftan Garant - Designed for cars, vans, light trucks. Three SAE designations are produced: 5W40, 10W40, 15W40 (the last two are also allowed for use in diesel vehicles).
3. Naftan Premier - used in cars with gasoline engines, characterized by a lower level of performance. Produced in the same three designations as Naftan Garant oils.
4. Naftan Diesel Plus L - adapted for use in diesel engines with environmental classes from Euro-2 to Euro-4. Produced with viscosity 10W40 and 15W. The oil can be used in previously manufactured cars with gasoline engines.

The high level of technology and concern for the reputation of the company contribute to the high quality of products. For example, experts say that Naftan Diesel Ultra L engine oil surpasses the popular M8DM diesel oil in most parameters.

Motor oils Naftan are produced on the basis of high-quality base oils with the addition of additives. Some of these additives are manufactured by the popular trademark Infineum (Great Britain), but in recent years, the refinery has learned how to produce its own, original additives in composition, which are in no way inferior to imported ones, but are characterized by a lower production cost. As a result of the combination of the base composition with additives, the considered group of oils is characterized by the following positive features:

1. Prevention of the formation of surface hydrocarbon deposits, which significantly impair the operation of the vehicle's power unit.
2. The stability of its viscosity indicators, which are not affected by temperature, pressure and other properties of the external environment.
3. The durability of physical and mechanical parameters that change little with increasing vehicle mileage.
4. Environmental friendliness: no harmful effects on the catalyst and the exhaust system.

Physical and mechanical properties

Oils from the Naftan trademark in terms of their performance meet the international requirements of ISO 3104 and ISO 2909, and the product characteristics comply with the norms of the authoritative standards ASTM D97 and ASTM D92. For example, for Naftan Premier engine oil, the physical and mechanical properties are as follows:

• Kinematic viscosity, mm²/ s, at a temperature of 40 ^°C - 87,3;
• Kinematic viscosity, mm²/ s, at a temperature of 100 ^°C, not less than - 13,8;
• Density, kg / m³, at room temperature - 860;
• Flash point ^°C, not less than - 208;
• Thickening temperature, ^°C, not less than -37;
• Acid number in terms of KOH - 0,068.

Similar indicators for Naftan Garant 10W40 engine oil are:

• Kinematic viscosity, mm²/ s, at a temperature of 40 ^°C - 90,2;
• Kinematic viscosity, mm²/ s, at a temperature of 100 ^°C, not less than - 16,3;
• Density, kg / m³, at room temperature - 905;
• Flash point ^°C, not less than - 240;
• Thickening temperature, ^°C, not less than -27;
• Acid number in terms of KOH - 0,080.

None of the types of Naftan motor oils under consideration allow an ash content of more than 0,015 and the presence of water.

An important characteristic of Naftan engine oils (especially those with increased viscosity, which are intended for use in turbocharged diesel engines) are the properties of additives. The main ones are compounds that prevent thickening of the oil during prolonged use. As a result, hydrodynamic friction is reduced, fuel is saved and engine life is increased.

Most reviews indicate that, despite the somewhat high price (compared to traditional brands of motor oils), the products in question are highly versatile and function stably on different types of domestic and foreign car engines. In particular, Naftan 10W40 oil performs well in modern turbocharged and direct injection engines. It can be used in modern gasoline and light diesel engines where SAE 10W30 or 10W40 oil is specified in the owner's manual. Thus, these products from NPNPZ seriously compete with popular motor oils of the M10G2k type.

Some users share their positive experience of using Novopolotsk engine oils in cases where the car was manufactured before 2017 and where API SN and previous specifications SM (2004-10), SL (2001-04), SJ are recommended. Naftan oils are also recommended for use in older diesel engines requiring API CF or earlier engine oil specifications.

There are reviews and restrictions. In particular, the products in question should not be used in vehicles with a diesel engine equipped with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) or wet clutch motorcycles.
