So, we are talking about the fifth generation, which, unlike its predecessors, also follows the design of other Land Rover models. This means that the design is much more elegant than its predecessors. No more sharp and flat surfaces, but curved and elegant arches. Some people think that Discovery lost its design sharpness on this, but in the end it is necessary to keep up with the times. Also due to aerodynamics, which in turn affects fuel consumption and, ultimately, carbon dioxide emissions. However, it is clear that the use of aluminum has also made its mark, making the new Discovery nearly 500kg lighter than its predecessor.

But in any case, the essence remains. With all-wheel drive and differential lock capability, Discovery continues to climb where people cannot walk. He is still the king of the mountain, and he is not afraid of the valleys either. With its help, you can drive to a depth of 900 millimeters or tow loads weighing up to 3,5 tons. And if all the seats are occupied, there will be seven people in the car with six 12V outlets and nine USB outlets. Either way, with Discovery you can really go on a long journey. The latter will be more enjoyable and safer also thanks to its many safety systems, which are not quite as abundant as in the larger and more prestigious Land Rover models, but don't worry, Discovery has long since made it out of the Stone Age. ...

Although the 100-liter turbodiesel Discovery is a good 240 kilograms lighter than the 100-liter six-cylinder engine, its overall weight is still well over two tons. But that doesn't mean it's a slow moving mountain. A more powerful version of the two-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel struggled in the test car, offering 8,3 horsepower, enough to get the Discovery from zero to 207 kilometers per hour in just 500 seconds. the maximum speed is XNUMX kilometers per hour. The ZF eight-speed automatic does the job well, and with XNUMXNm of torque, the Discovery is also agile in city traffic. Clearly this is not about physics, so you need to consider weight when braking and especially in tight corners. If you are too fast, the heavy mass will go straight ahead instead of turning.

But in any case, the Land Rover Discovery is a car that is a crossover or SUV in the full sense of the word. He's kind of like the last Mohican, although with his rather delicate and sleek form, he doesn't immediately inspire instant XNUMX% confidence. But driving is an experience, the driver feels good and the car suddenly doesn't feel big and heavy. And we can only bow to him and confirm that he represents his car class as expected.
