New winter tires from Michelin.

Michelin produces Michelin Pilot Alpin tires for performance vehicles and Michelin Latitude Alpin tires for SUVs.

The tire design used a package called Ridge N-Flex. It is a combination of three technologies: the Maxi Edge tread with a large number of ribs and sipes for better traction in winter, StabiliGrip sipes located in the tread blocks at different angles for greater stability and steering precision, and Helio Compound 3G rubber compound for low temperature flexibility for better grip on cold surfaces.

The Michelin Pilot Alpin tire is designed for passenger cars and was tested and evaluated in 2012 by the independent TUV SUD.

The study shows that the tire provides the highest safety when driving in difficult conditions. winter conditions:

• Wet braking distances are on average two meters shorter than leading competitor tires.
• Better vehicle control when cornering on snowy roads and on wet surfaces.
• Better grip on snowy and icy surfaces.

To achieve a balance between performance and performance, Michelin simultaneously improved the tread pattern and rubber compound, among other things. The Michelin Pilot Alpin tire is available in two versions:

• With asymmetric tread, optimally adapted to the requirements of powerful vehicles.
• With directional tread specially designed to meet the requirements of Porsche models such as the 911 and Boxster.

Michelin Latitude Alpin tires are designed for premium SUVs. They have also been tested by TUV SUD. The tire can be recognized as No. 1 for driving safety in low temperatures. This is evidenced by the results test in three key areas:

• 2 meters shorter braking distance on the road. covered with snow and 4 meters shorter on icy roads.

While working on the tire, the Michelin engineering team simultaneously focused on improving the tire's structure, tread pattern and rubber compound. The tread of the new Michelin Latitude Alpin tire has an increased number of attack edges (up to 40% more) and sipes (up to 75% more) compared to the previous generation tires.
