New BMW i3 with 8 years / 160 km battery warranty. The old ones didn't mention anything.

BMW has decided to extend the warranty period for the batteries of the new BMW i3 to 8 years or 160 kilometers, whichever comes first. The company also boasted that no batteries have been replaced so far due to premature degradation of capacity due to cell aging.

Extended warranty for BMW i3 batteries from 2020

The extended warranty applies to all new BMW i3s offered in Europe. Therefore, this applies to cars with 120 Ah batteries, that is, capable of storing about 37,5-39,8 kWh of energy.

For models manufactured before 2020, the existing 5 year or 100 3 kilometers warranty will apply. Considering that the BMW i2014 became massively available only in 60, only the cars of the first series with the smallest batteries with a capacity of 19,4 Ah (130 kWh) and mileage up to XNUMX km lost their warranty.

It should be noted that at the moment about 165 thousand cars have been produced.

Also mentioned is a study by the German Automobile Club (ADAC) on the study of purchasing and operating costs, in which The BMW i3 turned out to be 20 percent cheaper than a BMW of comparable size and performance.... And one of the users, Helmut Neumann, retained the original brake pads, despite running 277 kilometers (source).
