2019 SsangYong Musso EX Review: Snapshot

Musso is a two-cabin vehicle with a 1300 mm long pallet. Two versions of the base EX trim are available - one with a six-speed manual transmission ($30,490) and one with a six-speed automatic ($32,490), but both have a 2.2-liter Rexton engine. liter four-cylinder turbodiesel (133 kW at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm at 1400 rpm).

Standard manual EX features include cloth seats, rear seat child anchorage points, infotainment unit with AM/FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel audio controls, cruise control, limited slip differential, 17-inch steel wheels. and a full-size spare, and lane departure warning. 

EX auto adds an automatic box to this standard package.

Note: Mussos' current stock does not have AEB, but this safety technology is scheduled to be installed from December 2018 at no additional cost compared to current exit prices.

Keep in mind, too, that an Australian suspension setup is planned for the entire SsangYong lineup, with Musso planned to be first in line for changes. Representatives of SsangYong Australia say they hope this will happen within three months. 

Also on the way is a 5400mm long wheelbase leaf spring Musso with a 1600mm body (300mm more than the current Musso), which is expected in the second quarter of 2019.

Musso does not have an ANCAP rating because it has not been tested here yet.

Every Musso comes with a seven-year unlimited mileage warranty, seven years of roadside assistance and a seven-year service plan.
