Peugeot 207 SW 1.6 HDi Premium FAP (80 kW)

Two hundred and seven SW is a classic design van. The technical theory claims that this means the (technical) relationship of the platform, engines, front two-thirds of the body and the passenger compartment. And this, as I said, applies to the 207 SW.

In practice, with this Peugeot through the eyes of both the owner and the driver, it primarily means that the SW from (power steering) onwards is soft and easy to drive and that the atmosphere is quite pleasant. Riding it to extremes is as easy and tireless as the 207, and the sensations in it, as well as in the atmosphere, are pleasant. Different tastes would of course give different opinions, but the 207 (SW) is much more modern than the 206, we have a lot less grudge than the 206 (looking at each at one time), and it has retained a fair degree of (internal) design. , brand recognition.

The good practical side of the Bicentennial is the large amount of indoor storage space, indoor and outdoor, which is mostly useful to keep the driver and passenger comfortably seated for a comfortable ride. The only thing missing is practically usable space for a half-litre bottle, as the existing spaces, probably mostly reserved for cans, don't hold up even with slightly more determined braking. Another, also not very big drawback is the buttons on the key to unlock and lock, as they are unrecognizable to the touch, which allows the driver to open the rear at night instead of locking the car. Which is not particularly recommended.

This class of vehicles has grown enough to fully accommodate at least two front passengers and have enough space to comfortably carry on even longer journeys. When combined with a motor like the one on which the test 207 SW is installed, this is particularly easy to do. A modern turbodiesel with a maximum power of 110 "horsepower" is well mannered: it pulls from 1.000 rpm, pulls well from 1.500 rpm, and from 2.000 rpm it can be overtaken in higher gears on roads outside settlements, because then the engine runs with enough torque for such things.

On the other hand, compared to similar products, it also surprisingly loves to spin (with a little persistence, it spins up to 4.600 rpm in fourth gear!) / min: at least longer service life and noticeably lower consumption.

The consumption of this engine is interesting: in city traffic it increases to nine liters per 100 kilometers, with full throttle in the highest (fifth) gear, when the speedometer shows 195 kilometers per hour, the consumption according to the on-board computer is 11 liters per 6. kilometers. The figures seem relatively large, but the engine can also be economical: at 100 km per hour it consumes 100, and at 4 - 5 liters per 150 km. As a result, the average value of the test turned out to be very favorable.

In general, the engine seems to be very good: thanks to the beautifully distributed torque, five gears of the gearbox are quite enough, and although the principle of its operation (diesel) is recognizable to the ear even inside, there is no vibration or extra decibels. This is why it seems like a very suitable partner for the slightly larger, and above all, slightly heavier Dvestosemica SW van.

To get this engine / body combination, you have to go for the richest Premium equipment package, which sounds nice at first because there isn't much for this Peugeot in practice (maybe just cruise control and parking PDC). However, you will have to pay extra for more than two airbags! But if you go down the stairs with the equipment, you'll have to settle for an identical 90 horsepower turbodiesel. The difference is a good three thousand euros.

Peugeot has found an interesting way to bring dynamic people, young and young at heart, closer to a van of this small class, which, as a rule, is not popular at all (very few competitors) and is liked by older customers. Appearance certainly plays a big role in this, but if you go into details, you will quickly find that the designers squinted at the rear (first generation) Mercedes-Benz A: on the right side the window is split. an inclined support placed in the opposite direction, as required by some not very well-defined logic. Either way: the ruse was a success. The bottom window, cut off far to the side, is triangular in shape, but to maintain balance, the 207 SW has a triangular light at the bottom (red, of course).

The rear part is very practical, starting from the entrance: only the rear window or the entire door opens (but not both at the same time, which does not make sense), the shelf above the trunk does not roll up, but rigid and flexible from three parts: hooks on the sides (for bags ), on the right side there is a recess with a net, and the back bench is divided by a third. The liters are also eloquent, and the space seems large enough for large items of luggage.

Unless you find significant differences in the design of the front of this Esvey from its predecessor (or see it as a logical continuation of the same story), you certainly cannot say so. Here the designers went in a completely different direction. Or maybe it's better.

evaluation

  • While the top-end trim is a bit more modest, it doesn't spoil the big picture: the 207 SW is an interesting and dynamic combination of technique, look and feel, especially with this engine. That is why it is the best choice for young clients in a less competitive environment.

We praise and reproach
