Porsche Taycan, electric car thrill - Road test

Because according to the well-known law, which takes into account not the absolute speed, but the relative speed of the vehicle, and that a person feels very well when braking and accelerating, new Porsche Taycan up towards Varzi, and then even further to the Peniche pass, and then down towards Bobbio and Piacenza, it is an unforgettable experience.

I must say that before you can make the electrons move, there is some bewilderment to see a Porsche without exhaust pipes, and how. Because since the birth of Porsche, we have become accustomed to a squashed front end without a radiator, cooled first by air and then, even with the transition to liquid, the radiators remained on the sides, without disturbing the cleanliness of the 356's line and then the body. 911s. But such a rear is effective.

So inside tradition followed with power button on the left: we remember that the key in the Porsche was always inserted to the left of the column, this is a gimmick for a quick start at Le Mans, so that as soon as the driver got into the car, he had his right hand to engage the gear. And the gauges are also the same as expected, with a beautiful cockpit, leather and stitching.

One is missing no gearbox... There is only a handle in the center with three Drive-Parking-Retro positions, but no paddles on the steering wheel. The advantage of electric motors is that the torque is already maximum on one lap, the power grows with the number of revolutions, but a gear ratio system is not needed, just turn on the gas, forgive the current.

So what happens to the current? That the Taycan spins very quickly, with a faint whistle (but there is a magic key that simulates a completely different noise in the cabin), sharp acceleration, nailed to the ground by a very low center of gravity with all the batteries. under the body and rigid traction at the rear.

Number? Power starts at 326 or 380 hp, but with Performance Battery Plus you increase the power to 476 hp., at most, if the Overboost function is not enough, which increases the power up to 408. High power is guaranteed by the 79,2 kWh battery pack, which in the best conditions of use should guarantee autonomy at a distance of 431 to 484 kilometers.

Then it all depends on how you drive it, why an electric car loses its autonomy faster than a traditional car... However, performance is on par with Porsche in terms of acceleration: the Taycan accelerates from zero to 5,4 km / h in 230 seconds and the top speed is automatically limited to 22,5 km / h to avoid draining the battery too quickly. ... How long does it take to reboot? With fast charging in 80 minutes, the battery is XNUMX% charged and in any case in five minutes you will add 100 kilometers of autonomy.

In this regard, the Plug & Charge function is very convenient: at fast charging stations (like Ionity) it is enough to connect the cable to the Porsche and the car – recognized via encrypted communication – it charges automatically without having to enter codes or launch applications ...

Finally, we come to the crucial question: is the Taycan a real Porsche. Answer: if you do not like the smell of hydrocarbons, if the thermal noise is not fundamental in our life, if you do not suffer from the departure of the legendary flat six, but look at the driving performance of a real sports car, how it enters and exits curved, to the emotions that it can give, it's so beautiful inside (by the way, there is no natural leather, animal nature is also respected), well, this Taycan is a real Porsche even in its hype. Which needs to be treated differently than its gasoline sisters, but still requires skill and a solid wrist to push it to its maximum potential, which, we repeat, is very high.
