Why underestimate the Lada Priora

On the roads of our country, you can often find Priors with a low landing. The main reason why owners resort to this solution is to improve the appearance of the car. Lowering allows you to give the car a sporty look. In such a budgetary way, the VAZ 2170 can be distinguished from the traffic flow. With the correct implementation of understatement work, you can get the following benefits:

  • improve the handling and behavior of the machine at high speeds.

One of the main disadvantages of lowering the car lies in the quality of the roads: any hole or unevenness can lead to serious damage to body parts or car components (bumpers, sills, engine crankcase, exhaust system). Due to the low landing, the owner has to visit a car service much more often to fix certain problems. Therefore, if you want to make your Priora lower, you need to consider the following disadvantages of such a procedure:

  • you will have to carefully plan your route;
  • incorrect understatement can lead to a quick failure of the suspension elements, in particular shock absorbers;
  • due to the increased rigidity of the suspension, the level of comfort decreases.

How to underestimate "Priora"

There are several ways to lower the landing on the Priore. Each of them is worth dwelling on in more detail.

Air suspension

Air suspension is considered one of the best, but at the same time expensive ways to lower a car. The driver can raise or lower the car body as needed. In addition to the high cost of such equipment, the work should be carried out by specialists who understand electronics and the chassis of the car. Therefore, most Prior owners prefer less costly ways to underestimate.

Suspension with adjustable clearance

A special adjustable suspension kit can be installed on the Priora. Height adjustment is carried out by means of racks, and the springs with the selected understatement (-50, -70, -90) are compressed or stretched. Thus, the car can be raised for the winter, and underestimated for the summer. The springs that come with the kit are endowed with increased reliability and are designed for a constant change in length. The considered set consists of the following elements:

  • springs front and rear;
  • struts and shock absorbers with screw adjustment;
  • front upper supports;
  • spring cups;
  • fenders.

The procedure for introducing such a set comes down to replacing the standard suspension elements with new ones:

  1. Remove the rear shock absorbers along with the springs.

  2. We mount an adjustable shock-absorbing element.

  3. We adjust the suspension in height with special nuts, choosing the desired understatement.

It is recommended to lubricate the threaded part of the shock absorbers with graphite grease.

Lowered suspension

This method of lowering the suspension is less expensive than the previous one. It involves the purchase of a set of shock absorbers and lowered springs (-30, -50, -70 and more.). The disadvantage of this kit is the impossibility of adjusting the clearance. However, such a suspension can be installed with your own hands. To replace you will need the following set:

  • racks Demfi -50;
  • springs Techno Springs -50;
  • props Savy Expert.

Understatement is selected based on the wishes of the car owner.

You will also need to prepare the following tools:

  • keys for 13, 17 and 19 mm;
  • socket heads for 17 and 19 mm;
  • breakdown;
  • a hammer;
  • pliers;
  • ratchet handle and collar;
  • penetrating lubricant;
  • spring ties.

Suspension elements are replaced as follows:

  1. Apply penetrating lubricant to the threaded connections of the front struts.
  2. With heads 17 and 19, we unscrew the fastening of the racks to the steering knuckle.

  3. Loosen the ball stud nut and unscrew it.

  4. Using a hammer and a mount or puller, we compress the ball pin.

  6. Remove the stand assembly.

  7. We install springs and thrust bearings on new racks.

Low profile tires

One of the options for lowering the Lada Priora suspension is to install low-profile tires. The standard tire size for the car in question has the following parameters:

When lowering the landing by installing low-profile tires, a small indent from the standard dimensions should be observed. Otherwise, the performance of the car may deteriorate, which will negatively affect not only driving performance, but also the wear of the suspension elements.

Filed springs

One of the most budgetary ways to lower the suspension is to shorten the springs by trimming a certain number of coils. To carry out such an upgrade, you do not need to buy anything. It is enough to arm yourself with a grinder. The procedure consists of dismantling the shock absorbers and springs, followed by the removal of 1,5–3 turns. You can cut off more, the car will become lower, but the suspension will practically not work either. Therefore, such experiments should be carried out with caution.

When lowering the suspension from -50, you will need to cut the bumpers in half.

Feedback from motorists about lowering the suspension "Priory"

To be honest, Eibachs underestimate the front well, and the back is almost like a drain. I put standard and Eibach springs next to each other, the difference is a centimeter and a half. I didn’t like the fact that the ass didn’t sit down and I put the phobos back: they really gave an underestimation - 50, though they were on the 12-ke I had and sagged a little. I would like therefore before a little lower.

Understated. Racks in a circle SAAZ ten, with shortened rods. Ahead springs TehnoRessor -90, opornik SS20 queen (with an underestimation of 1 cm), cut off native springs at the back by 3 turns. Racks pumped for stiffness, tk. stroke is short. Bottom line, the car is a jumper, very hard, I feel every bump, a small wave - I and the sub in the trunk are bouncing.

Put -30 rear, -70 front on native racks, it will lie flat. At first he set everything to -30, the rear was as it should be, the front was generally as it was, then the front ones were changed to -50 and still 2 cm higher than the rear.

Demfi racks are harsh on their own. I have KX -90, springs - TechnoRessor -90 and two more turns have been sawn off at the back. I go and rejoice, low and soft.

Lowering the car suspension is an amateur event. However, if you decide to carry out this procedure with your Priora, you need to familiarize yourself with the possible options by choosing the most suitable one. It is advisable to entrust changes to the suspension to an experienced mechanic or use special kits for lowering the landing, which can be easily installed by hand.
