A vacation trip can be spoiled at the beginning if we get stuck in a kilometer-long traffic jam caused by road repairs. To avoid this situation, it is worth planning the route before departure, taking into account possible road difficulties.

Drivers have been complaining about the poor condition of Polish roads for years. Pits, gaps and ruts not only negatively affect driving comfort. They also cause damage to the vehicle's suspension and can cause accidents.

All motorists agree on the need to repair the road surface. The problem arises when, as a result of these repairs, they have to stand in traffic or take detours to extend their travel time. In such situations, drivers' understanding of the need for repairs falls sharply, and unflattering epithets are poured onto the heads of road builders.

Growing nervousness makes drivers more willing to step on the gas pedal to catch up. This, in turn, leads to dangerous situations, because speeding is known to be one of the main causes of accidents.

To save the motorists from disappointment, we present a holiday map of Poland marked with pavement repairs, reconstruction of roads, bridges and viaducts. We describe the accompanying difficulties, hoping that this will help in planning the most optimal route to the place of rest. We have selected the most visited national roads in summer.

A report on the technical condition of the pavement of the republican road network, published at the end of 2006, shows that almost half of these roads, i.e. almost 9 thousand km of routes, require various types of repairs - from strengthening, leveling, to surface treatment. Half of the repair needs are procedures that must be performed immediately. If the site improvement strategy is adopted only at the critical level, a total of almost 4 sites should be rehabilitated. km of roads. The most problems with roads are in Lesser Poland, Lodz and Swietokrzyski voivodeships. The situation is relatively better in Podlasie, Lower Silesia and Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Causes of poor road conditions in Poland:

– lack of money for repairs and routine maintenance of the surface,

- pavement structures that are not adapted to increased pressure, damaged by heavy vehicles,

– lack of an effective system for excluding overloaded vehicles from traffic,

– an increase in road traffic, mainly due to an increase in freight transport by road,

- Wrong technology of construction and repair of roads.
