Overview
The name of the transducer is made up of the Latin symbol for iron (ferrum) and the abbreviated Latin word nomen (name). In addition to the Fenom rust converter itself, the line of auto chemical products from Avtokhimproekt LLC also includes:
- air conditioner that increases the anti-friction characteristics of the surface;
- means for removing sooty deposits on piston rings;
- drug for restoring the functional abilities of steering parts.
The agent in question for removing rust by converting it into soil for subsequent painting is a liquid, which includes:
- Acidic rust remover (phosphoric acid is used).
- corrosion inhibitors.
- Antioxidants.
- water soluble phosphates.
- Additives that provide the effect of reduced foaming.
- Flavorings and thickeners.
Rust Converter Fenom is produced in accordance with TU 0257-002-18948455-99. A package that does not have a link to this specification may be a fake.
Instructions for use
The manufacturer recommends the following sequence of using the rust converter Fenom:
- Thoroughly clean the surface to be treated (both chemical and mechanical methods can be used).
- Degrease metal.
- Apply the composition with a brush (due to the speed of the conversion process, you should work quickly).
- Let the product dry. The visual effect is that a whitish coating is formed on the prepared surface from the phosphate film, which is not recommended to be washed off.
- After the drying process is completed, primer or paint can be applied to the surface.
Due to the presence of acid in the composition, work with this converter must be carried out only with rubber gloves. All stages of processing are carried out in well-ventilated rooms.
Guaranteed serviceability of the coating (according to the manufacturer) is at least 5 years. It is not recommended for use if deep pockets of corrosion are found on the surface.

Rust Converter Fenom appeared on the market 18 years ago, and since then has been collecting quite conflicting user reviews.
On the one hand, this product shows itself well as a tool that increases the resistance of moving parts of transmissions (mainly heavy wheeled vehicles), which is why it is used as an additive to the corresponding oils (from 3 to 6%). As a result, as noted, there is a decrease in the level of noise and vibrations, an increase in the time between failures, and a decrease in the sensitivity of the operation of engines in conditions of insufficient oil level. The preparation keeps the properties at sharp fluctuations of temperature and humidity of air. True, all these advantages relate to trucks.
On the other hand, in solving the main task - effective removal of rust - Fenom copes so-so: the claimed process of obtaining a surface zinc coating is slow (within 24 hours), and this makes the operational use of this composition impractical. As a disadvantage, a small volume of the bottle (only 110 ml) is also noted at a price of at least 140 rubles.
In comparison with agents similar in composition (for example, Hi-Gear rust converter), the specific consumption of the Fenom composition per unit of treated surface is 10 ... 15% higher, although the conversion process itself takes less time.
