Causes of white smoke from exhaust gases and how to eliminate it

The exhaust system plays a critical role in your car's performance, safety and environmental impact. But with so much detail and the pressure of optimal performance, there are problems from time to time. This means that it can emit smoke from the exhaust pipes, which is a bad sign for any vehicle owner.

Exhaust emissions

Before diving into what white exhaust smoke is telling you, it's a good idea to first recap how an exhaust system works and what exactly emissions are. Instead of expelling the harmful gases your engine initially releases into the world, your exhaust system works to funnel those fumes through the system to reduce any harmful emissions and keep noise levels down. The main parts in this process are the manifold, catalytic converter and muffler. 

Why is there white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe? 

When all parts of the exhaust system are working properly, you should not see any exhaust gases or smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. But white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes can be caused by several things. Keep in mind that smoke may disappear quickly due to condensation buildup and not a more serious problem. So, if you see white smoke, make sure it's not a quick flutter or thick smoke that's causing you concern. 

Cracked cylinder head. The cylinder has a piston and two valves that generate power for your car, and if the cylinder head develops a crack, it can be a serious problem and cause white smoke. The crack is most likely caused by engine overheating. Unfortunately, the only way to fix A cracked cylinder head must be replaced. Bad fuel injector. The fuel injector helps limit the flow of fuel into the combustion chamber and requires great precision. Thus, a slight change or variation can confuse him. If the fuel injector is out of order, then it's time to replace, and this the only way to fix it. But it's not as expensive as a cylinder head. Also, it's recommended to replace the fuel injector kit basically every 2 years, so you can consider it more of a "routine job" than a "overhaul".

Oil in the combustion chamber. While air and fuel should be the only things in the combustion chamber, oil can unfortunately get in. The most likely cause of this is leakage from under the piston rings or valve seals. Sad, the only way to fix It also involves replacing piston rings, but you can help keep them up with high mileage motor oil after 100,000 miles.
