The Mercedes-Benz C-Class received the highest scores in the Euro NCAP crash tests conducted a few days ago.

The Euro NCAP association has been conducting crash tests for several years. Manufacturers consider them among the most difficult for a car, showing its advantages or disadvantages, both in frontal and side collisions. They also check the chances of survival of a pedestrian hit by a car. Opinion-forming tests have become an important element not only in the assessment of safety, but also in the marketing struggle. Good ratings are successfully used in commercials for individual models - as is the case with the Renault Laguna.

Mercedes at the forefront

A few days ago, the results of another series of tests were officially announced, in which several cars from different classes were tested, including two Mercedes - SLK and C-class. crash test results. Such a good result was ensured by the applied technical innovations in the form of two-stage airbags that open depending on the severity of the collision, as well as side airbags and curtains. Similar results were obtained in the Mercedes SLK - Honda S 200 and Mazda MX-5 competitions.

High C

The company's management is much more satisfied with the result achieved by the C-class model. This is the second car after Renault Laguna (which was tested a year ago) to receive the maximum number of five stars in crash tests. “This important distinction is further confirmation of the innovative concept of the C-Class, which is at the level of our state-of-the-art knowledge and accident research,” says Dr. Hans-Joachim Schöpf, Head of Mercedes-Benz and Smart. development of a passenger car, I am satisfied with the result. The standard equipment of the Mercedes C-Class includes, among other things, adaptive two-stage airbags, side and window airbags, as well as seat belt pressure limiters, seat belt pretensioners, automatic child seat recognition and seat belt warning. Another advantage is the rigid frame of the car, which the engineers worked on taking into account the results of real and detailed traffic accidents. As a result, the C-Class provides the greatest possible protection for passengers in collision situations at medium speeds.

Test Results

The Mercedes C-Class ensures high safety and therefore minor injuries to the limbs of the driver and front passenger. The increased risk occurs only in the case of the chest of the driver, but in this respect competitors are faring worse. Of particular note is the very good protection of the heads of all passengers, which is provided not only by the side airbags, but primarily by the window curtains.
