Velobecane Electric Bike Brake Adjustment

Are you having trouble adjusting the mechanical disc brakes of your Velobecane electric bike?

Here's how to solve this problem in several steps: (help youvideobecause this one is a bit more technical than the others)

  1. First of all, make sure the disc brake of your Velobecane electric bike is properly bolted to the wheel (tighten 6 small screws with a 4-gauge wool wrench or T25 Torx wrench).        (see video 00 min. 10 sec.)

  1. Once the disc is screwed onto the wheel of your electric bike, make sure the caliper is securely attached to the fork. To do this, using a wrench 2, tighten the 5 screws that are on the caliper.        (see video 00 min. 30 sec.)

  1. Then loosen the small iron cable by unscrewing the screw that is on it, then unscrew the handle that is just above.       (see video 00m45s)

  1. Do the same with the dial on the steering wheel.     (see video 01m00s)

  1. On a brake caliper, the disc rolls between two pads (right and left). The purpose of the adjustment is to bring the pads as close to the disc as possible without touching them. (see video 01 min. 10 sec.)

  1. Loosen the screws that hold the caliper to the bracket slightly so that the caliper moves on both sides.     (see video 01m25s)

  1. Tighten the screw on the back of the caliper. (see video 01m40s)until it touches the disc. Once the disc touches the screw, back off the screw 2 or 3 turns.

  1. Tighten the cable again by tightening the screw that holds it in place.    (see video 02m00s)

  1. Retighten the 2 caliper screws on the support while keeping the brake depressed.     (see video 02m10s)

  1. Loosen the screw on the back of the caliper again until you see a gap between the disc and the right pad.      (see video 02m45s)

  1. Spin the wheel to check the friction.     (see video 03m10s)

  1. Bring the left pad closer to the disc (see video 03m15s)... To do this, bring the wire closer to the top, then slightly lower and tighten the screw.     (see video 03m20s)

  1. Check again for any friction by turning the wheel of your electric bike. Finally, check if the brakes are working properly.     (see video 03m30s)

* Braking on your Velobecane electric bike is an important point that needs to be checked frequently to avoid any danger and be completely safe.
