The German owner of the Porsche Taycan 4S - an autobahn specialist - decided to test how far he can go in an electric Porsche when he drives very carefully and calmly, in the range of 70-90 km / h. Effect? On battery, the car will be able to drive 604 kilometers.

The driver made a circle about 80 kilometers long, which partially touched Munich, his hometown. The conditions were favorable, the temperature kept several degrees Celsius for a long time, the car was switched to Range mode, thus limiting the power of the air conditioner, engines and reducing the maximum speed.

At the time of takeoff, the battery level was 99 percent, the odometer showed 446 kilometers of predicted range:

Initially, the car was moving at almost 90 km/h – check the green light between mileage and the range above – then the driver slowed down to 80 km/h… he was surprised that the energy consumption dropped. It rose only when the outside temperature dropped to around 10 and then below 10 degrees Celsius.

One of the pictures at the end of the experiment is interesting here: at a temperature of 3 degrees Celsius, despite a slow ride (on average 71 km / h), it consumed 16,9 kWh / 100 km. We're going to compare this value with the average for the entire route:

When he got to the charging station, the odometer showed a remaining range of 20 kilometers, and the car had traveled 577,1 kilometers. If the Porsche was fully charged and the driver wanted to unload it to zero - which isn't very prudent, but let's assume it was - will be able to travel 604 kilometers without recharging. The average speed of this very smooth ride was 74 km / h, the average energy consumption was 14,9 kWh / 100 km (149 Wh / km):

Now back to the topic of low temperatures: you see that there is an additional 2 kW receiver, which increased consumption by 2 kWh / 100 km (+ 13%). Probably, the matter is in the heating of the batteries and the interior.

If the Autobahn Specialist result begins to show itself in other experiments, it can be assumed that Porsche Taycan 4S is able to cover the Wroclaw-Ustka route (462 km via Pila) slightly longer than what Google Maps suggests (6,25 hours instead of 5,5 hours). Of course, provided that the driver will provide smooth movement at speeds up to 80 km / h.

The price of the Porsche Taycan 4S in the described configuration is not less than PLN 500. The vehicle has active cruise control and a high capacity battery (83,7 kWh net capacity, 93,4 kWh total capacity).
