Renault Twingo TCe90 Dynamic EDC

Remember the story when we tested the limits of the racing Twingo with singer Nina Pushlar and circuit racing champion Boštjan Avbl? Well, at the time we had a test Twingo, which with its interesting brown color and rich equipment (Dynamique) attracted attention - especially those hidden behind long painted eyelashes.

Nina, with frank admiration, told the essence of the car in three sentences. “It smells good, new girl. I would also like such equipment, and in particular automatic transmission! Can I just keep this beauty? She laughed as she did a few laps on Raceland. Unfortunately, the answer was: no, Nina, but that would suit you very much.

The test car had really rich equipment, from R-Link with navigation and hands-free system to cruise control, from a rearview camera to parking sensors. The engine was the most powerful - a three-cylinder turbocharged 90 horsepower, consumed seven liters on the test and six liters per hundred kilometers on a standard lap.

The advantages and disadvantages of such a Twingo are already known from experience, as it is bouncy in the city and quite maneuverable (small turning radius!), But also a little hectic (shaking turbocharger) and with a smaller trunk. The rear engine has its own tax and we were happy with the rear-wheel drive, although we would have liked the ESP stabilization system to not roll up its sleeves as soon as the rear wheels slip. The chassis is a little stiffer, and the steering system and power brakes are girl-friendly, so soft and responsive.

It sits high, which might bother any male driver, but the Twingo is also very transparent. The biggest draw for the girls is definitely the EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) dual-clutch transmission, which saves the left foot and right hand from city driving. We were worried about shift lag under acceleration (especially with the ECO program) and the occasional hesitation, but we calmed down during the praise. And that's what attracted Nina, who says she loves to drive.
