Renault Grand Scenic

For a change, I attached the child to the sixth and seventh seats, and turned the seats in the second row into a large comfortable table. Of course, the kids' joy was indescribable that they could ride in the trunk, which in itself would be worth buying a seven-seater car.

Well, when I tried to jump into the emergency seat, which is otherwise at the bottom of the trunk, laughter passed me by. Instead of emergency, it would be better to use the words small, modest, or just an uncomfortable seat in which a liquid mother-in-law can sit on a longer trip. A joke, a joke. ...

However, it is interesting how the world is changing when you look at it from the far ends of this giant Renault. Suddenly you need to raise your voice so that the kids "behind your back" can hear you, suddenly the rumbling behind your back is not so strong and suddenly bothers you. ... yes, notice how small you are in this car.

The Grand Scenic is much longer than the classic Senica (22 centimeters!), And most importantly, longer than the Grand Scenic II. wheelbase (2.770 mm or 34 mm more than its predecessor) and a larger trunk (10 percent more at 702 liters).

Rear seats they hide in the bottom of the trunk in one motion, and access to the third row is made easier thanks to the wide folding seats in the second row. The only downside to the rear of the car is the beautiful boot lids, which very soon start to sound like "cufati", "muckati" or whatever we call it.

Grand Scenic certainly ranks among the record holders for flexibility. inner space. In addition, not only are the seats (those in the second row also longitudinal!), the steering wheel and the already mentioned boot/seats adjustable, but you can also adjust the longitudinally movable center comb and – yes, even the instrument panel with one stroke.

With technology TFT (Thin Film Transistor) You can change the screen color according to your wishes and needs. Do you prefer dark lighting? No problem. Would you prefer analog meters? You can afford it too, but, unfortunately, only at engine rpm, since the speedometer is always written in digital numbers.

The technique may not appeal to everyone, especially computer ignoramuses, but we quickly got used to the novelty - and got used to it. On Monday, the background is more black, and then closer to the weekend everything is more fun. . Not bad, right? Renault also boasts plenty of drawers and storage spaces hidden in the car.

They say that there are as many as 92 liters of such corners, but honestly, we would prefer to see a little more storage space on the dashboard, and useless corners in the ground can be immediately discarded.

The eighth family member (yes, there are such families too) is impressive smart cardthat we considered a premature blocking only when you go around the car to pick up your child, and with the Carminat TomTom navigation. Not only does it look great, but the graphics (with the Grand Scenica silhouette inserted!) Can be a benchmark.

However, the most interesting was the 1-liter petrol turbocharger. engine... If you started explaining to a random passenger that this giant has only a 1-liter engine, he certainly didn't believe you. Even after you added that the turbocharger was responsible for charging, it was skeptical. ...

The reason he looked at your hands to make sure you didn't have a fig in your pocket was, of course, the agility and sovereignty of this engine. If we assume that a car weighing one and a half tons should move, then the baby is beautifully under the hood.

Noise it practically does not exist, there are no so-called turbo pits, even inclines or dynamic overtaking for him a cat's cough. It's not the fastest or breakdown, but it's powerful enough that none of the six gears will drain it. The downside of this "smoothie" is fuel consumption, which, despite a quiet ride, is unlikely to drop below 11 liters.

Our measurements showed that, on average, we are in a calm city driving. spent 11 liters, and the on-board computer stated that we left 6 liters on the road first, and then 11 liters. But as we already know, on-board computers cannot be completely trusted.

The so-called "downsized" engines are not just a fad, they are a need for greater environmental acceptability. So engines emit less CO2 per kilometer, consume less in principle (less weight!), and are also jittery enough due to the latest turbochargers that customers don't avoid them to a large extent.

The nice side of a modest-sized engine, of course, too less weight, which significantly affects the position on the road and handling. Renault Grand Scenic is pleasantly obedient when cornering, since the front wheels are not overloaded (not overloaded) by a heavy engine, so the nose of the car does not jump out of the corner during interruptions.

Unfortunately Renault insists on electrically controlled power steering, which would be perfectly acceptable if it were BMW or Seat. ...

Thus, it is too soft, and the biggest drawback of their system is the annoying feeling of sensitive drivers when the system starts from the starting point. At first it resists a little, then it starts the power steering significantly. A little thing that worries the sensitive and most drivers won't even notice.

Of course they are comfortable too chassisthat rocks the body a little over bumps (and thus draws laughter to the children's mouths in the back), a soft six-speed manual gearbox and seats that cuddle more like a chair than racing ones.

In short, you will not experience the superiority of driving this car, but you will be impressed by the comfort and refinement. It takes family cars for that, doesn't it?

Family equipment also fits, from the isofix mounts (so hidden I could barely find them!), To the tables in the front seatbacks and an optional interior mirror, to the sun visors in the second row. Only the garage needs to be big enough and the Magna card at hand will make you a happy dad. Especially when spoiled children and chirping wife fall asleep. ...

evaluation

  • If you don't mind a little higher fuel consumption, then a 1,4-liter turbocharged engine will do for this machine. It will spoil you with refinement and - surprisingly - even maneuverability, although it has to move almost a ton and a half. However, if you drive a fully loaded car multiple times or hitch a trailer to it multiple times, you should opt for a turbodiesel because of the torque.
