Seat El Born – impressions of youtubers [video]

Seat el-Born is the brother of the Volkswagen ID.3 - the same battery pack is packaged in a slightly different case. According to some commentators, the car is less "toy" than the VW ID.3, but the impressions of YouTubers who watched el-Born at the IAA 2019 in Frankfurt do not quite confirm this thesis.

Dear YouTuber Bjorn Nyland immediately emphasizes that we are dealing with ID.3 in a different shell. In fact, the design of the MEB platform means that it can be carried in almost any bodywork - which is probably why Ford decided to base its vehicles on the German solution:

Seat el-Born and VW ID.3 - different bodies, very similar interiors

The interior of el-Born is virtually indistinguishable from what it will offer to Volkswagen customers. The location of the counters is identical, the same is the control lever and lighting control buttons to the left of the steering wheel. The plastic in the window pane and in the door seems equally hard, which has disappointed some potential buyers.

But the seat upholstery is different: Seat el-Borna uses burgundy leather. The armrest is also different, in El Borna it is, and in ID.3 it is divided between the seats. The arrangement of the central tunnel looks completely different - there is one long open chamber (but this may change).

Seat el-Born (2020) - Specifications

Seat el-Born, as already mentioned, is being built on the MEB platform. The car must be available battery with a capacity of 58 kWh (gross: 62 kWh), we also expect a 45 kWh version (gross: ~ 49 kWh). The car should offer 420 km WLTP, which should match this. 350-360 km in real range in mixed mode. The power seat will handle charging power up to 100 kWand its engine will have a power output of up to 150 kW (204 hp).

We expect that, despite the more attractive appearance, Seat el-Born may be priced lower than rival Volkswagen IDs.... This means that the version with a 58 kWh battery has to start [quite a lot] below 170 PLN.
