T for touring! 2022 Porsche Macan T price and specifications: Stuttgart's sporty four-cylinder SUV unveiled, eye-catching BMW X3 xDrive30 and Audi Q5 45 TFSI

The Macan T is the latest iteration of Porsche's midsize SUV.

Porsche has expanded its mid-size SUV family with the new Macan T, a sporty four-cylinder engine due in Australia in the middle of the year.

The "T" badge, of course, previously adorned "touring" versions of the Stuttgart brand's entry-level 718 and flagship 911 sports cars, but in a sign of the times, it has now moved to a crossover.

Based on the entry-level Macan variant, the Macan T claims a $6700 premium, which works out to $91,500 plus travel expenses. As such, it costs below the average V6-powered Macan S and the flagship Macan GTS, which start at $105,800 and $129,800 respectively.

So what elevates the Macan T above the "regular" Macan? Well, additional equipment includes the Sport Chrono package, a lowered sports suspension (-15 mm) with adaptive dampers and a rear-shift all-wheel drive system.

There are also Agate Gray metallic exterior accents, 20-inch Macan S alloy wheels in dark titanium, glossy black window surrounds and quad tailpipes.

Inside, the BMW X3 xDrive30 and Audi Q5 45 TFSI rival features a heated sports steering wheel, eight-way power adjustable front sports seats with heated and embossed Porsche logos, black leather upholstery and model-specific “black aluminum” door sills.

Air springs are optional and the ride height will be reduced by 10mm in the future. Torque vectoring is another option, along with Race-Tex steering wheel trim and carbon fiber, and Sport-Tex Stripe seat inserts, which are part of a bespoke interior package that also includes silver stitching.

Other standard equipment includes a compact spare tire, auto-dimming mirrors, rear privacy glass, keyless entry and start system, 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay support, digital radio, blind spot monitoring, surround sound. vision cameras, front and rear parking sensors, and Piano Black trim.

The Macan T has the same 195 kW/400 Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol turbo engine as the standard Macan. It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that allows you to accelerate from 100 to 6.2 km/h in XNUMX seconds.
