The fourth generation of the famous American car has received many improvements over the previous series. Everything has changed in the new Ford Focus: appearance, power units, safety and comfort systems. And in our review we will consider all the updates in detail.
Auto design
The new Ford Focus, in comparison with the third generation, has been transformed beyond recognition. The hood was slightly lengthened and the A-pillars were moved 94 millimeters back. The body has received a sporty outlines. The car has become lower, longer and wider than its predecessor.
The rear roof ends with a spoiler. The rear wings of the wheel arches have become a little wider. Thanks to this, the brake light optics has acquired a modern design. And the Led-ovsky illumination is noticeable even in sunny weather. The front optics acquired navigation lights. Visually, they divide the headlight into two parts.

How does a car go?
All generations of Focus were famous for their controllability. The last car is no exception. It clearly responds to steering. Turns smoothly with a slight roll to one side. The suspension perfectly dampens all the bumps in the road.
The novelty is equipped with a stabilization system of the car during a skid. Thanks to this, even on wet roads, you can not worry about losing control. The chassis is equipped with electronic shock absorbers. The adaptive suspension itself is tuned to the desired mode, based on sensors on shock absorbers, brakes and the steering column. For example, when a wheel enters a pit, the electronics compresses the shock absorber, thereby reducing the impact on the rack.
During the test drive, Ford showed himself to be dynamic and maneuverable, which gives it a sporty “emphasis” that his body hints at.
Technical specifications
In the engine compartment of a car, the well-known economical EcoBoost modification motors are installed. These power units are equipped with a “smart” system that, for the sake of fuel economy, can turn off one cylinder (and two in a 4-cylinder model). In this case, the efficiency of the engine does not fall. This function is activated when the car is driving in measured mode.
Together with gasoline engines, the manufacturer offers a turbocharged diesel version with the EcoBlue system. Such ICEs are already effective at low and medium speeds. Due to this, power output occurs much earlier than similar versions of the previous generation.

Fourth generation cars in the front are equipped with McPherson shock absorbers with anti-roll bar. The one-liter EcoBust and one and a half liter diesel engines are rear-mounted with a lightweight semi-independent suspension with a torsion bar. On other modifications, an adaptive multi-link SLA is installed at the rear.
Salon
The car interior has excellent sound insulation. Only when driving on a road with a large number of pits, impacts of the suspension elements will be heard, and with sharp acceleration - a dull sound of the engine.
The dashboard is made of soft plastic. On the instrument console flaunts an 8-inch touch screen multimedia system. Underneath is an ergonomic climate control module.
For the first time in the lineup there is a projection screen on the windshield, which displays speed indicators and some security system signals.
Fuel consumption
Ford Motors engineers have developed an innovative fuel injection technology, which today is known as EcoBoost. This development turned out to be so effective that motors equipped with special turbines received three times the award in the nomination “International Motor of the Year”.

Cost of maintenance
Despite the efficiency of power units, proprietary development is very expensive to maintain. This is due to the fact that gasoline engines with a Ford turbocharger are a relatively new development. Today, only a small number of service stations perform maintenance on this injection system. And even among them, only a few learned how to configure it correctly.
Therefore, before buying a car with the EcoBoost modification, you should first find a suitable station, the masters of which have experience with such engines.
